As Panda approached the old, ragged, abandoned building, she couldn’t help but let herself wonder about what exactly this business was that Killa spoke about. Without hesitation she knocked on the sturdy door, noticing that without even opening it, it felt much heavier than it looked.
The slit in the door quickly opened and two stern, gray eyes peered out at her, accompanied by an equally rough voice, “What business do you have here? We’re not hiring at the moment,” the voice curtly stated.
“Killa sent me here,” Panda scoffed. This better be the place he was talking about, Panda thought to herself, judging by this guy’s serious manner and appearance, I’d bet anything it is.
“Hold on ma’am,” the voice responded, in a much friendlier tone, as though he had heard Panda’s thoughts. The eyes disappeared from her sight, and Panda felt much more at ease, knowing she had found the building.
Within seconds the man returned, opening the door with a creak that could only be caused by its excessive weight. Light flooded her eyes, and for a minute she was sure this couldn’t be the same building she had just been standing in front of; many words crossed her mind to describe the place, but the one she chose to call it was simply stunning. You’d think you’ve entered a royal mansion. There was a gigantic double staircase with metal handrails, and a dazzling chandelier hanging from the middle of the room. Everything was so clean and expensive looking, and seemed even more so in contrast to the outer appearance of the building. As she was staring in awe someone tapped Panda’s shoulder; it was the pair of gray eyes she saw earlier.
“Alright Miss Panda, I‘ll take you to Killa now,” he said as she was trying to finish taking in the scene before her eyes.
“Oh okay,” Panda replied. Then, realizing they hadn’t properly introduced themselves, she spoke, “I guess you learned my name from Killa, but I don’t know who you are.”
“They call me Gobi,” he said, as they walked to a closed door. “I’ll see ya ‘round Miss Panda,” he smiled as he opened the door.
“I see you’ve arrived! Didn’t think you were gonna bust out so soon,” a familiar voice boomed from the other side of the room. Panda saw a man dressed in a polished black suit and tie and realized it was Killa.
“What the hell happened to that nappy headed guy I met in prison, huh?” She laughed as the two hugged.
Panda noticed that it wasn’t only Killa’s appearance that was different, but his face now held a smile firmly in place, brightening up his entire demeanor. Panda couldn’t help but smile at the change in Killa. The two sat down and Killa handed her a cup of coffee. As she took a sip she was amazed by the quality of the beverage. Jeez, even the coffee is high-class here, Panda thought to herself as a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. She turned around and was struck with amazement as a beautiful woman entered the room. She was dressed in a short green gown, revealing her flawless and glowing skin. She had long voluminous black hair that flowed down her back; she looked as though she were an actress.
“Hey, there baby,” she purred as she went to hug Killa, “who’s this girl?”
“This is the new business partner I was talking to you about, she’s very promising. She already has people ready to work for her too,” he said, as he kissed the beautiful woman.
“Nice to meet you, hun. My name is Ruby. You’re going to like it here.” She winked. “The ladies are ready for the show,” she addressed to Killa, and seductively left the room. Panda was in awe at such a beauty.
“I see you like what you see. Don’t even try, she doesn’t go that way, and she’s my fiancée” Killa laughed.
After a short pause, Panda remembered why she was here and quickly questioned Killa, “So, what is the business you do here in order to afford this place?”
“Straight to the point as always, I see,” Killa jokingly said, “But I’d be curious too, so I might as well tell ya’.”
Killa set down his coffee and continued, “In these parts we get a lot of young ladies looking for a place to call home. They don’t have no parents, and don’t know how to get a job. The boss here started takin’ ‘em in, see? They were so grateful that they started their own business. They began entertainin’ men for profit,” finished Killa.
Panda stared for a minute, then asked, “This is a brothel?!”
Killa started replying, but Panda was busy thinking, and then something dawned on her, and she almost yelled “You want me to entertain men?!”
Panda jumped in shock at the laughter that answered her question, spilling coffee on her pants. Killa’s laugh was reverberating through the entire room, seeming to fill the space. After he calmed himself, he replied, “You got the wrong idea here. I’d never ask ya’ to sell yourself like that. Not all these girls go to those lengths, they only go as far as they want for the money paid to ‘em by the customer. We don’t force ‘em into anything. But what I got in mind for you is somethin’ different,” Killa explained, all the while smiling at Panda.
“That’s right, that’s right! Even if we did make you go ‘round sleeping for cash, you’d have to charge the customers through the roof!” roared a eerily familiar voice from the doorway, with a hearty guffaw.
“Welcome, Panda, to my humble mansion!”
Panda froze. She knew this annoying voice all too well..
