Everyone aside from Luffy were burnt by Enel's lightning. Lightning is immensely hotter than fire, and it would damage Ace. But I doubt the basic charges he released into Sanji, Usopp and Zoro will harm Ace enough to put him down. Anyways, Enel has a speed advantage(Ace considerably lacks speed feats) and a DF advantage. It doesn't matter if you have Haki or the hardest hits if you can't actually hit your opponent.

And before you talk about Luffy hitting Enel, that's because of the first hit. That only happened because Enel thought Luffy's attack would pass through him. That first hit rattled Enel. If anyone takes enough hits, they're performance will decrease. What I'm trying to say is, if Enel had dodged that initial punch while he was 100%, Luffy may not have been able to hit him at all.

Enel can use lightning attacks that stay on your body for at least a few seconds, like the one he used on Luffy at the beginning of their fight or that island busting attack.

But the temperature is still there. Magma was superior to fire simply because it was hotter, it carried more heat, so Ace's DF offered no protection and he felt it like he had a normal body hit with magma. It wasn't a matter of whether or not the heat could be felt, but that one carried more heat than the other. Following the logic that has been presented to us, due to the fact that lightning is hotter than fire, Ace would feel Enel's attacks as though lightning has struck his normal body.

fire=/=fire thats the problem...

a fire inside an oven with enough wind(oxygen) could get far hotter than regular lava/magma....
also it kinda depends on what is being burnt and in what way.... most times u can determine a fires heat by its colour... normally yellowish fire(like aces) isnt that hot, while blueish and white fire(like marcos phoenix fire) is far hotter
ever seen a oxyacetylene torch cutting through solid steel? thats pretty hot and its so bright you have to protect your eyes

I looked it up, and yeah, fire does get hotter than magma. I have no idea what the hell Akainu was talking about then. Maybe he thought magma is hotter than fire, but was just wrong? I also found a post saying magma beats fire because it smothers it. Since I now know fire burns hotter than magma, I think the smothering thing sounds more plausible.

There are different types of fire. In order from coldest to warmest: Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, and White. Maybe magma can be hotter than Ace's orange/yellow fire.

It could also mean other things, such as Haki

Or it could simply mean Akainu is stronger

My point: going into the physics of the fruits is stupid, this is a manga :/
