No I don't. That's why I don't really believe in the bible. I guess you can say I'm still finding myself though, so I can't really say what I am or what I believe in just yet.

then your really on board with a lot of people in the world myself included

It doesn't cause im not the one making these statements. I just want to know why people believe in the idea and what has happened so far that point to these "end of times"

Well that's simple, the average person is naive and foolish, so they'll believe in just about anything. Especially if its convenient for them.

And that's always been my reason exactly to question it. The bible claims you're supposed to have complete faith in god and to trust his word but I feel as if people only claim to have faith to be accepted into heaven. That's convenient and selfish and even if that were true, no man wants to burn in hell. That's not whole hearted faith. That alone makes me questions peoples beliefs. The rest is just icing.

God or no god, the world will end, either via the sun burning out or us destroying ourselves or by whatever religious apocalypse one believes in

That's why I'm not religious. Why believe in some deity that's only proof of existence is a book that's been constantly changed for convenience through out history? That is just irrational, blind faith.

Regardless, I think its fine for people to believe in religion or whatever else they want to believe in as long as its not harmful to themselves or anyone else.

You're right. I agree, we will be our own downfall. We treat this earth worst than a toilet after a late night trip to taco bell, sadly Lol

I'm not religious and don't even know if I believe in God or not. I just want to know what you guys think. According to my friends who are christian, the world will end within the next 40 years Lol

I don't know what to believe, just curious on your thoughts.

This depends upon exactly what you count as the "end" and exactly whose time scale you are going off of.

I, personally, get the sense that I am to be involved in the Battle at "Armageddon" roughly in the 2022 time frame. That is just my own gut instinct on what I see as being 'echoes' of my own future.

That will come after a roughly 5-year long war in the U.S. and 2 years of campaigns in the Balkans.

Yes, I expect America to break down into civil war sometime this year.

Extra questions, how do you know were in the end of times? What does the bible say about it? Whats the timeline? What has happened so far according to prophecy?

This set of prophecy mostly deals with Israel.

Various prophets, even before Israel was established as a nation, said that Israel would be established, that it would be destroyed because the Jews would profane the name of God. The Jews would be scattered throughout the nations where they would continue to profane God. At a later time, God would re-establish the nation of Israel - not out of any goodness in the Jews, but because God made that promise to them.

Jesus, himself, prophesied both the destruction of Israel and its return. He also said that the prophecy of the Messiah would be fully realized by the generation that saw Israel reborn - that generation will "not pass away" before the prophecy is complete.

If you are curious to know what the Bible says in terms of prophecy - that is a fairly good site that does its best to present the argument for those prophecies being fulfilled as we know them.

Obviously - one can only be so certain what a prophecy means or if it is being fulfilled - but there are certainly some interesting ones.

For example:

"Since the Jews began returning to the land, it has been a constant struggle in the Middle East in the form of wars and terrorism. The Islamic world wants to destroy Israel, while the rest of the world wants to bring peace to the region by dividing Israel and Jerusalem. What the world fails to realize is that Islamic ideology will never allow for a peace agreement to last.

Islam's "culture of death," in the form of raising suicide bombers who believe they are doing the will of Allah, make a difficult situation impossible. The reason the United States became involved in the struggle against Islamic extremists is simply because we are an impediment to their destruction of Israel.

As prophesied in the Bible, this region will continue in turmoil until the Messiah returns:

Zechariah 12:1-3 - The burden of the word of the LORD against Israel. Thus says the LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.

Those who try to divide the land appear as peacemakers. However, they are acting in opposition to God's will, so destruction will come on those who try:

Ezekiel 36:5-7, 12 - Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I have spoken in My burning jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who gave My land to themselves as a possession, with wholehearted joy and spiteful minds, in order to plunder its open country."' "Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, and the valleys, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and My fury, because you have borne the shame of the nations." Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "I have raised My hand in an oath that surely the nations that are around you shall bear their own shame.... My people Israel; they shall take possession of you, and you shall be their inheritance; no more shall you bereave them of children."

1 Thessalonians 5:3 - For when they say, "Peace and safety!", then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. "

What will be interesting is to see how many of the predictions, if any, line up:

"The second war, found in Ezekiel 38-39, is known as the "Gog and Magog War." There are at least five prerequisites before this war can take place:

The Jews will have returned from the sword/exile (Ezekiel 38:8)
The Jews will return from exile to the mountains of Israel (Ezekiel 38:12)
The Jews will be living securely in the land (Ezekiel 38:8 & 11)
Israel will have great wealth (Ezekiel 38:8 & 12-13)
The land east of the Dead Sea will be within in Israel's borders (Ezekiel 39:11-12)

The Jews have returned from exile and won the West Bank and the Golan Heights in the Six-Day War. Israel is doing rather well economically and they have recovered from several wars. However, Israel is not living securely with the threat looming by her immediate neighbors. The "Great Middle East War" will wipe out the threat from her neighbors. In addition, Israel's borders will expand east of the Dead Sea, and as a result, Israel's wealth will vastly increase.

Without a doubt, the increase in the size of Israel's real estate alone will dramatically increase their wealth. Joel Rosenberg predicts that the one thing that could really make Israel's wealth increase would be if they found oil. There have been rumors over the past few years that Israel has found a large amount of oil. But recent news reports have said that Israel has discovered enough oil that they could become an exporter of it (source).

The devastation on Israel described in the "Great Middle East War" will be difficult to recover from, especially population-wise. However, the likely rise in anti-Semitism after the war will probably force much of the rest of the world's Jews to move to Israel for safety. God has allowed persecution of the Jews time and again over the past century to re-gather them home:

Ezekiel 28:25-26 - 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and am hallowed in them in the sight of the Gentiles, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to My servant Jacob. And they will dwell safely there, build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they will dwell securely, when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the LORD their God."'" "

The ultimate test of any theory is its ability to predict events.

Wow, thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to visit that link you provided me and again thanks.

1 last question for you. Why do you think the US will go into civil war soon? All this police brutality shit or does it go further?

I'm sorry if I sound clueless, i'm just curious.

Edit- I'm still looking for this "timeline" so if any christian or follower of the bible can explain this to me I'd appreciate it.

This "timeline" is a popular notion of how Christians suppose to believe/interpret the "rapture". When beginning to actually study Revelation and Jesus words about end times, you would notice that this popular belief has it all mixed up.

Studying and researching yourself (as I did) will find out what Apocalypse actual meant to be, and wasn't meant to be taken literally. Its actually a genre writing style.

Your friend just so happen to follow the popular belief, as I had in the past, without doing any studying for himself. "My pastor says it, he is more experience in the bible then me, therefore I should believe his interpretation without the need to study it for myself". This is a common Christian mindset, though I myself understand where they are coming from.

Anyway here is the passage where Jesus's talks about end times:

Now I doubt you would read the whole thing so Ill be your commentary to summarize it.

Paragraph verse 1-2: Jesus and his disciple left the "Jew's Holy Temple" (which you might want to research what so good and important about it to the Jews. Keep in mind it was historically destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar II the first time, and had to be rebuilt later as you see Jesus was inside its second temple. His disciple praising the looks of the second temple and Jesus predicts and tells them this one will fall just like the first one, but this time by the Romans (Which actually happened 40 years after Jesus death, resurrection, and ascension).

Verse 3: Jesus and disciples move their location to Mount of Olives, were they curiously asked 2 questions after hearing what Jesus said about whats going to happen the second temple.

"Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”"

1st question is concerning when will the temple be destroyed and second question is the sign to when Jesus will return at "end-times".

Verse 4-14 Jesus answers the second question. Then goes back to answer the first question verse.

Verse 15-28 Jesus answers the first question, concerning what will happen during the time the second temple will be destroyed. (Which historically happened by Emperor Titus and is now known as the Wailing Wall) and gives a description what it would be like, much like 1st century holocaust.

Verse 29-31 Jesus uses Apocalyptic format to make a point, just like how Revelation is suppose to be read, using figurative speech/making a "movie" scenario to built a point.

Verse 32-41 is a Parable, research what a Parable is.

42 Jesus gives us a heads up to be ready and to be careful not to be mislead.

Theres much much much more to learn and break down, but the point I am making is how some Christians would use passages as this and try to make some connection point that aren't even meant to be taken in that kind of context.

So as I Christian, do I believe in End Times? Yes. But I do not believe in the popular interpretation on how to view end times.

I dont mind answering. The answer is basically in this passage. What Jesus says, I believe (but of course that depends on how this person, or me, is interpreting it.

The passage I gave you were Jesus talks about it simply shows, that I have to conclude that were are living in it right now. The "end times" started the moment Jesus died, resurrected, accented to heaven, and the prophesy of the destruction of the second temple being fulfilled. All of this took place already as he said would. If you read the his second question (verse 4-14) you can even YouTube this happening now and on the news. Lets starts

Verse 4 and 5: "Someone is pretending to be Jesus". Literally you can Youtube maniacs pretending to be like Jesus and gaining gullible followers. A good example would be Jim Jones, but you can find plenty and plenty more.

Verse 6: "Continuous wars". Always been happening shouldn't be no surprise here.

Verse 7: "World war and natural disaster". Of course happening.

Verse 9: "Christian struggle". You would hear Christian getting persecuted since forever

Verse 10: "Christian gives up". You see this happening. Because of natural disaster and other emotional reasons, they drop their faith in God.

Verse 12: "Moral laws, God's standards, are being decrease slowly". That obviously happening.

Verse 13: "They will be some Christian that will endure all this to the end"

Verse 14: "The Gospel will be preached everywhere then its time for him, Jesus, to come back"

So basically this concludes that that ends time already started, and I am just waiting for Jesus to come back. Wither I am dead or alive when it happens.

Wow, thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to visit that link you provided me and again thanks.

You are welcome.

Keep in mind that it isn't the only set of prophecies or the only interpretation of them.

Revelations is a much more popular book for the "end times" - and is highly metaphorical. There are some hang-overs from when the Jews (and the later Christian scholars who were influenced by them) were much more active in Astrology. Despite many modern interpretations that render things such as "Astrology" as being heretical - many early Jews (and even Christians) did not see it this way. In Genesis, it is said that God created the stars in the sky and decreed that they be signs. Books (later excluded from many prints of the bible) such as the Book of Enoch describe, very thoroughly, the pattern of how planets and stars move with regard to each other in the sky.

The Three Wise Men who visited Jesus from the East were either Indian or, perhaps, Persian scholars versed in Astrology. The "Star of Bethlehem" is often inferred to be an astrological sign rather than a literal star that appeared - though this is a somewhat contentious belief.

You will find some claims that the Gospel tells the story of a precession through the Zodiac... but take those with a grain of salt. They are interesting from a reader curiosity standpoint, but I think they are reaching most of the time.

Anyway - Revelations is far more symbolic and, I believe, more of a platform of the fulfillment of the purpose of mankind. IE - Genesis is the beginning of our purpose - Revelations describes the realization of our purpose or its fulfillment.

My own interpretation is the "A Tale of a Dragon's Tail" theory. Revelations is not arranged chronologically - it is arranged by topic. Revelations talks about a war in the heavens - where the Ancient Dragon's tail "swept a third of the stars from the sky." Stars were an old reference to angels or divine beings. The ancient dragon - the "deceiver and accuser" is the devil - his tail sweeping a third of the stars from the sky means that he swayed a third of the angels to join him.

The devil - or ancient dragon - was known to be one of the most intelligent and knowledgeable of the angels - the one with the greatest understanding of God and perhaps the greatest insight. The fact that earthly kings and rulers are compared to dragons - and that the devil is called the "ancient dragon" is by no coincidence. Throughout all cultures that speak of dragons - they are noted as being very powerful and intelligent beings that are driven by territory and pride.

The devil is hurled to the earth. At some point in all of this, human beings are created (depending upon who you talk to - the Garden was already in existence before all of this broke out, in other interpretations, the Garden is developed after the devil is hurled to the Earth). Humans were created in the image of God and given God's own breath/spirit.

And then we have to consider the purpose of the Tree of Knowledge. God knew exactly what 'we' would do. We would choose to accept the fruit of the tree of knowledge.... but what does that even mean?

"The Dragon's Tail" - it was the devil's knowledge of the universe and of the minds of beings that allowed him to sway so many to his side. It was the devil's knowledge that we consumed - the ability to comprehend and understand the universe.

If God's essence could be described as "Wisdom," then the Dragon's Tail can be described as "Intelligence." With the ability to think comes the ability to plan. With the ability to plan comes the instinct to manipulate. With the instinct to manipulate comes the concept of sin.

But why go through all of this?

One of God's highest angels turned against him. How? He believed God's universe was unfair and that he was more capable of creating a fair and just universe. He only needed all of the angels to comply with his idea - and it would work out fine. Thus "deceiver and accuser."

Basically - the Devil was a progressive socialist who believed that free will needed to be suppressed for the greater good. Those who would not suppress their free will accordingly were accused of being the reason why everyone suffered. If only everyone would just follow -his- plan and -his- idea, then everything would be perfect.

Perhaps the Devil, himself, isn't capable of fully grasping the reality of his own treason. Regardless - the position he held as 'guardian of the universe' is vacant and needs someone to fill it.

That would be 'someone' (or some people) with both the wisdom to understand the magnitude of God's design and the limitations of their intelligence no matter how vast it may be.

We are to fulfill our purpose and in doing so bring about the "Kingdom of Heaven" on Earth. With a mastery of physics and having witnessed and defeated the devil's reasoning; the universe attains a new class of guardians.

I am, personally, not sure what to make of the "Second Coming" - there are two basic depictions. Jesus describes a "Thief in the Night" and Revelations describes a man with a name only he knows riding upon a white horse, a white robe drenched in blood, and a sword "truth" extending from his mouth - who will lead an army of the resurrected against "the beast" (The ancient dragon with human societies/institutions around it).

The "Thief in the Night" phrase is usually interpreted to mean that you won't know who it was, or even exactly when he was - but his work will be evident.

The "Horseman of Truth" is the polar opposite and is very in-your-face about things, obviously.

Perhaps the two are not the same individuals. Perhaps Jesus was making reference to something else, or perhaps Revelations is just quackery in the first place (it can't be attributed to any author - while it is often attributed to the Apostle John, the scholarship simply can't confirm it, and it seems more plausible to have been from a different author).

1 last question for you. Why do you think the US will go into civil war soon? All this police brutality shit or does it go further?

It's hard to describe, really.

Part of it is a self-confirming bias on my part. I grew up with an unusual fascination with the military and have long felt that a civil war in America was on the table. Back when I was in highschool (2002-2006) I often told my friends that "Within the next ten to fifteen years," America would collapse into Civil war and cease to exist. It was a gut feeling at the time - but I saw the stiff ideological divide between America and knew that it would eventually come to blows.

The problem is that we are, literally, two nations. There is the progressive left that wishes to live under an authoritarian socialist structure governed by the intellectual elite and then there is the conservative right that wishes to live under defined laws of limited interpretation with seats of office being rigidly defined in their duties and authorities. These two ideologies are mutually exclusive of each other. You can't have intellectual elites who can make snap-decisions based on what they -feel- the law should say within a system that has strict definitions of their authorities and limitations thereof.

The riots are just one symptom of a much larger and deeper problem that seethes beneath the fragile surface of civility in our nation.

It is not healthy for my ego that my "ten to fifteen years" statement is looking disturbingly accurate at this point in time.

My friends from highschool have, since, said: "You know... I used to think you were crazy and a little over the top. Now... Well... if could expect anyone to know what to do if things take a turn for the worse, it'd be you."

More recently - I've predicted an economic collapse within the timeframe of this April. Thankfully, the universe seems to be giving me ego a healthy treatment of humility. Although there are still a few days left.

I'm not going to claim these riots as being "what I was sensing" - since what I was getting the feeling of is something much greater.

Arguably - if things continue to boil out of control in Baltimore and, let's say, a group of white citizens open fire on the black rioters.... now... -that- could precipitate a nation-wide meltdown. But, we'll just have to see.

I'm sorry if I sound clueless, i'm just curious.

Asking questions is much better than throwing accusations.

A bit of advice I could sometimes take, myself.

No. Empires rise and fall, but humans live on.

The world has millions upon millions of years left. Humanity's fate is unknown. There is a meteor on a trajectory path towards us that is large enough to create a mass extinction event (which has happened 5 times in our world's history). The meteor will be here in approximately 30 years, but it's not suppose to hit our planet. Its course could change. There are 10-14 million species on this planet, but 99% of all life that has lived on this planet is now extinct. We will be no different. The world will recover, adapt, and new life will evolve.
