I could have easily made this same match up with a starting distance of five meters and an indoors location so I don't really understand what joy you find from making the stipulations so lopsided in Gaara's favor.

Gaara's not calling a Sand Tsunami while sinking Sakura into the earth. It's one or the other. If he chooses a sand tsunami Katsuyu. If he chooses to sink her, Katsuyu.

You didn't state the obvious because when I created this thread I thought it would be fair considering I gave Sakura Katsuyu. What do you want me to do, lower the distance and change the location?

Why not? Kimimaro couldn't escape all the sand and once he was trapped Gaara used Sand Burial on the ground. Sakura doesn't have layers of bone and tough skin to tank a sand Burial like Kimi did so how exactly is she going to survive?

Gaara could easily grab her feet and toss her into the sand burial.

Sakura doesn't have gate level speed like Lee and Gai so she isn't getting pass Gaara's Sand. The sand can absorb the impact of the punches and since they are surrounded by sand in a sand dessert then falling debris cannot occur. Gaara's sand would soften the impact of the punch, thus causing there to be no shockwaves or any kind of damage, and Sakura can't counter sand shower, so I don't see how punching would help her when she would just be punching sand..

Forget the automatic sand shield, Gaara's super sand shield that broke Kimimaro's strongest bone would tank any attack that Sakura mustered.

If you have any speed feats of Sakura then I would love to see them, other wise she will not be able to outrun his sand. Sakura simply lacks speed to evade Gaara's sand. His sand was keeping up with Kimi who is well faster than Sakura. While Gaara attacks from above, Gaara could also be attacking her from below, keeping her distracted by Sand shower to notice the ground below her.

Gaara still wins with the change of location. Sand restricts sakura's movement and gets squashed.

With this location and distance Sakura can win high difficulty. Gaara's not turning Karst into sand, at least not as easily as he turned the ground into sand versus Kimmimaro, so he's going to be limited to his gourd sand for most of the battle.

Although Databook scores aren't the most credible thing in the world, I find it necessary to reinforce the fact that as Volk stated, the Sakura that fought Sasori and Part 1 Sasuke both have the same score in speed. I can see Sakura winning this, because she can without a doubt power through Gaara's sand dome.

It isn't fanboying, I actually like Gaara more than Sakura.

Um, so what? Part1 Lee's 5th gate was strong enough to completely obliterate his defense and damage his sand armor. The shockwaves of war arc Sakura's punches are much more powerful. She usually starts her battles with a punch to the ground, as seen when she trained with Kakashi and later when she attacked the mini Juubi. From 10 meters the impact would be so great that PART1 Gaara's sand wouldn't be enough to negate it.

And even if she won't start with a punch to the ground, she can still win as soon as she analyzes Gaara's fighting style. Given Sakura's evasive skills, she should be able to effortlessly dodge his attempts to grab her limbs and crush them. Gaara is a stationary fighter, who won't expect Sakura having superhuman strength, therefore he will most likely try to protect himself with simple sand shield, causing by this his own downfall.

He knows nothing about Sakura, therefore he has no reason to go mid air or to use sand tsunami right off the bat. This is why I believe Sakura > part1 Gaara. The current Gaara is a different story ​
