EMS could have been simple to obtain.

Madara was the 1st to unlock MS and EMS. It was only an accident he achieved EMS in the 1st place. Also the requirements for EMS was scarce. Its understandable many clans members failed to gain it.

Why didn't Madara and Izuna just switch eyes? I mean that would simplify a lot of things. Hey let's trade eyes for more power kinda thing....instead of like killing the person for it...well that's what I would have done at least. Alot more uchiha could of had EMS if that was implemented....lol

Obviously you cant, or it would have already been done. Madara didn't hate his brother, and if he knew - and he seems to know most things if not all about the Uchiha - he would have taken that option.

The reason why madara and izuna did not switch eyes is because madara had over used his ms n izuna's was still ok but izuna was going to.die so he gave his eyes to his brother and the power was discovered then... Or at least that's what I recall... I'd search for the page or chapter where it shows it so I could show you but I don't know how n I'm doing this through my phone

We've never been shown the actual process of obtaining EMS, it could require two sets of eyes which would prevent merely swapping.

I think there's a page in the manga which hints at that, I'll go look.
