Just had a thought, outside of kakashi and itachi, have there been any other prodigies at that level since? Sasuke and neji where still genins by the time kakashi was what? A jonin? Itachi also rose up just as fast if not faster. So have we seen any other geniuses of this level since?

Kimimaro was somewhat young(15) and gets wanked a lot here, but a ton of character reached their parents' level during war when they were like 16~ish. Anyways, I think the whole prodigy thing is just a plot point to make characters stand out. Characters like Kakashi being jounin at a young age when plenty of his current feats get eclipsed by young side characters is pretty telling.

Don't think there are many people, if any at all near their level when you look at age. Zabuza apparently graduated from his Academy at around the age of 9 and according to Kakashi, he killed over a hundred academy students in the Bloody Mist Ritual leading to them being forced to change the exams. Zabuza was basically a Zaraki Kenpachi-esque savage rather than an elite genius though

Hanabi Hime was soloing Hyuga genin 5 years her senior, her eye prowess was above that of adult Hyuga. There were others referred to as geniuses, Orochimaru, Minato come to mind although I doubt they were at Itachi or Kakashi's level at their respective ages.

Minato was considered genius but he is nothing compared to Itachi and Hiruzen and Orochimaru's level of genius.

Because kids were trained back in the time instead of going to the academy since it was a war and each and every generation got softer after the time, its the way it is.

Itachi was a true genius imo. He wasn't born in a time of war that would need even kids on the battlefield (like Kakashi's time) and he still graduated from the academy at a strong age.

Neji, Sasuke and Gaara come to mind. And if it counts, Lee was regarded as a genius by Kakashi when he opened gates lol

You leave us little room for other suggestions when the premise is focused on how fast they rose up ranks. The only other ninja I can think of besides Kakashi and Itachi is Minato, and he's a trivial case.

I think the difference in era should be acknowledged. Kakashi and Minato grew up in wartimes so there was definitely a need to learn fast and progress. Same with Itachi.

Sasuke and Boruto and geniuses of this era, there is really no need. The growth comes when necessary so it's after graduation and they are faced with real ninja that the genius kicks in. Sasuke Vs orichimaru's, gaara etc.

after the timeskip hebi sasuke would have been able to beat part 1 kakashi despite being many years younger. Irrelevant that kakashi became a jonin very young.
