All i can say about the SM+TB Naruto is to think of it like the Ascended Super Saiyan (Pretty much Mastered SSJ), he comes in with a tremendous power boost that looks like his base form.

The Super Saiyan form comparison does'nt fit because there's no major differences in terms of appearance regarding SS1,USSJ,,and SS2.The only change is increased muscle mass and a tremendous power and speed boost regarding USSJ and SS2 respectively.In fact there's no visible change in SS1&2 at all aside from the spikier hair and electrified aura.

Naruto's modes have always been destinct,you could tell what power he was using just by looking at the form he was in.

I don't know how to make you understand then. That was standard Sage mode with the Tailed Beast influence, his second form was the Six Paths mode with all of the Tailed Beasts influence:|

While a bit different, if Naruto had lost the powers he got then the rods would have disappeared as they are part of those powers.
