Well ive been wondering something for a while now. Ever since Kabuto revealed his powers while fighting the Uchiha Bros., something came to my attention. We know Kabuto has the ability of Suigetsu's clan where he can liquify his body. He stated himself that the only reason he couldnt retrieve Jiraiya's corpse was because of the deep water he sunk in. If he could liquify himself shouldnt he have been able to withstand the pressure of the ocean depths?

That would have been crazy to see an Edo Jiraiya!

He could have released hundreds of liquified snakes to search for the corpse or something = Why didnt Kishi thinked about that?

Also Snakes = have extreme sense of smell = even underwater I think.​

or look for his cut off arm? or the weapons that pain had that 5 used to stab jirayia, that tobi has, and Kabuto even asked tobi for that, and also Shisui eye, that is if he has it or not. but he does at least have pain items... He is a collector.(Tobi)

Yeah, its kind of disappointing that Kishi is not using the full extent of a villain's power. If this was really up to the mind of Kabuto, i believe Edo Jiraiya would be a very big part of his army. I honestly believe that its blatantly apparent that Kabuto has the knowledge/power to retrieve a very powerful weapon for his arsenal. But alas, the story is at the mercy of a bland plot set up.

How do you know that he did not save Jiraiya? He said that he had a few more tricks up his sleeve. How do you know that this is not true?

He said that he wanted those items TO TOBI, but think do you think he really wants Tobi to know his plan 100%? He wanted to betray Tobi and that would be one of the few perfect Edo's to do it.

Nah he said its too deep in the sea so he cant get it thats why wanted the dna from the pain weapons well thats what I thought of it.

Where was it said Tobi has Shisui eye. If I am not mistaken and I am not Itachi had one that he destroyed after he had Naruto use it on him. Second Danzo had the other and he self destructed to try and kill Sasuke and prevent Tobi from getting Shisuis eye. So unless he had 3 eyes I don't see how Tobi had one of the eyes.

I don't think you people know how much pressure the ocean floor possesses... Even liquified, I doubt Kabuto would reach it. Also, as the poster above had said, his DNA is probably completely disolved. Aminoacids don't like salt.

For those of you saying that this is not relevant due to the recent Edo Tensei Release, please be clear that I am speaking about before he came in alliance with Tobi. Im sure there were many ways of obtaining Jiraiya's DNA aside from going underwater for his corpse. There is still a missing arm somewhere above on the surface.

Interestingly enough, a lot of people don't realize the effect of salt water on the human body over long periods of time (although I already was). However, I'm sure that if Kabuto was hell bent on retrieving the corpse then he would have had Edo's go after it and not himself. The longevity of the Edo Tensei bodies would be able to withstand the pressure Im sure.

Then again, the depth of the ocean is quite vast.

I still hold hope that he is secretly alive. Maybe kishi is toying with the idea of bringing him back, which could be why there isn't an Edo version. Doing so will kill all possibility of a "surprise, I didn't die and have been training all along" or something.

Not all that likely, but not impossible either.

so many threads, all answered by one sentence. "plot no jutsu" (yes Edo jiraiya would be badass and possible with liquification of the body, but to be honest, Kishi probably didn't even had kabuto's character developed that far when he wrote that.
Remember kishi pulls this out of his ass like 2 weeks to a month in advance, He honestly doesn't think that far ahead. Itachi being a good guy was probably his only "Shamalan twist" that we will see.
