The fact that when Edo clothes are damaged or ripped they revert back to its normal form. This clearly means that they cannot remove their clothing because Edo's aren't real flesh nor is their clothing. Everything is bond together and when one thing changes it reverts back. This is why their clothing also reforms when they take damage. Kabuto said it him self he wasn't familiar with Deidara's art. So he might not have known about all his techniques.
