Edo Characters are basically like any Jutsu?

Hi everyone, just as the title writes, isn't any characters that has been Edo'ed are considered tools or more appropriately "jutsu", just them are more powerful and can be utility tools? It was like summoning animals or weapons from a scroll and then used it to attack an enemy, right? My point is, should them be ranked and "entitled" to be earned places among the living shinobis in any list? They are virtually undead and unbeatable, its just not fair to list their rank compared to any normal human being.

Yeah. I haven't seen most people put edo's on their top ten lists though. But maybe that's just me.
