I remember in the beginning when I saw him, I was like "the f*ck is this dude? Lame shinobi!" but wow was I wrong!
We are always talking about 'the powerfull shinobi', so am I, but sometimes these 'lower class' ninja's deserve all of the respect too. Here some pages of Ebisu vs one of the 6 Pains during Pain's invasion of Konoha. Awesome Ebisu is awesome!
Say whatever you want, but yesterday when I was rereading the Pain arc, I really felt respect for this guy. He knew he did not have any chance, still he was prepared to give his life for the Youth. All Hail Ebisu, a true shinobi too!
Btw, he isn't a fodder actually, because he has development. In the beginning he was 'against' Naruto, and now he did not betray him. The way he looks back at Naruto is brilliantly done by Kishimoto!
