It would not cancel the under-water techs. He was talking about Kisame using water techs, and Kisame could absorb the lightning techs.

A rib version Susano'o can be used for easy mobility. This was shown when Sasuke was chasing Itachi and both of them had a basic Susano'o put up with a large hand. This version can be switched to any time to jump out of the way. I don't see your point.
