It does, actually. How long does it take for him to activate it? The fact that he anticipated Itachi's plans to keep Sasuke away from him at all costs leads me to believe it was in effect. But let's not forget that Intangibility works by coming in contact with something. Amaterasu is literally Space Time as far as its spawn point is concerned.

I also don't agree with the whole one and off switch thing, if that was the case then Obito never would've been nailed by Rasangan. If it's on, then it's automatic. Minato's attack should have phased through as well, because I doubt he turned it off at that point.

He did turn it off at that point. He wanted to grab Minato to warp him, for which he needed to turn off intangibility. Minato used this moment to attack.

As you can see MS tech can be prepared with 3t alone, MS is needed for activation only.
Already prepared by Itachi chakra greatly shortened the jutsu.

@Bold: As fast as he can react, unfortunately for him he cant react to a point blank amaterasu shot, therefore he got hit.

Intangibility prevents any kind of contact, even if the jutsu is instant it doesnt matter as anything aimed towards him will simply go through him. Intangibility let's obito warp a part of his body to the dimension before it gets hit, so even if ama can spawn on the target with intangibility it would ether hit the wall behind obito or ignite where he's standing, because the part that's about to get hit would warp to the other dimension, thus preventing any sort of contact.

Obito needs to be tangible in order to warp someone, obito was trying to grab minato therefore he deactivated it [after the kunai went through him]. Since FTG is instant it allowed minato to teleport behind obito before he could even have the chance to reactivate it again.

Let me ask you this, if obito was completely intangible would you tell me that a blitz from behind could still work against him? If kamui isnt automatic then obito would not have the ability to phase through attacks that he's not aware of, yet he's done so on multiple occasions.

Someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but when Kakashi uses Kamui he stares at his target. Kakashi wouldn't Kaumi Itachi, because it requires him to stare at Itachi for a couple of seconds......u_u

Still think Kakashi is strong tho.

Which is what I have been stating, Intangibility is dependent on his Reaction Rate, which would explain why he got hit a number of times - Amaterasu, Rasangan, Danzo's guard that poisoned his arm. In short, Intangibility is directly proportional to his reaction rate - he decides to go through, so he does, it's simple. He couldn't for Amaterasu, which means he couldn't activate it fast enough. Since Intangibility is dependent on his reaction rate, so is its activation speed. It isn't independent of Obito's Reaction Rate.

I am still not buying this on and off thing as all Ninjas posses basic sensory perception. Once he senses something, he reacts using Intangibility. To tell you the truth this on and off is simply Obito Solidifying and Phasing through. I don't see anything automatic about it. When he chooses not to be solid, he is using Intangibility and that alone completely hinges upon his Reaction Rate, which are pretty damn fast, as don't think I am undermining the guy. I mean, it's the same guy that intercepted KCM Naruto with Gunbai and bashed it in his face. Lol If that ain't fast then I don't know what is, because Obito wasn't even moving.

@Takos

Which is what I said: Intangibility is directly proportional to his Reaction Rate, which shouldn't even be a physical response in Obito's case, more like a mental one. Yet despite the fact that he even thought 'impossible' he couldn't phase through. Therefore the onset of Intangibility is slower than Amaterasu's Spawn point which is the whole point I am trying to make, as Amaterasu appears out of no where basically.

Well someone finally understand what im trying to say, yes he needs to look into his target, how else he can warp it....

Don't misinterpreting what I'm saying. Kamui can be activated or deactivated. During kamui's activation obito has 5 minutes of pure intangibility before he has to deactivate it & start over, this is how konan figured out his weakness. Its been stated multiple times that obito needs to be taken out with a volley of attacks that last more than 5 minutes, this is the only way that intangibility can be countered, because while intangibility is activated nothing can harm him.

Kamui is not dependent on reaction rate at all actually. Obito failed to activate his 5 mins of intangibility before sasuke hit him, that's why he got hit, intangibility was not yet activated.

This cannot be true, obito has phased through attacks that he's not even aware of, this proves that kamui is not based on reactions & that it must have an "on/off" switch, otherwise what you said doesnt make sense.

Obito can only phase through things he can react to? Well then how did he react to attacks he didnt even know existed until he almost got hit by them?

[ ][ ][ ]

Some proof that intangibility is automatic due to obito phasing through attacks that he didnt know were coming.

^ I am talking about the on-set. Once he is fully utilizing the Intangibility which lasts for 5 mins as Konan clearly mentioned then he obviously cannot be hit during this period.

As I mentioned, close-ranged attacks whether from behind - Ninjas have shown the ability to physically react to them. Sasuke reacted to Mei's attack from behind, when his back was turned to her, Bee reacted to the sudden appearance of Minato twice, which in my opinion would be akin to reacting to someone from behind as the user can appear anywhere given the Kunais on the field etc.

My whole point is one-set. Obito only has to mentally react and Intangibility is on, as shown how he felt Ninja presence and attacks phased through. But the on-set was slower and Amaterasu's Spawn point process was much faster.

Not once its on, if he activates intangibility then he can't be touched unless he tries to attack. This is my point, obito got hit in the scenario with sasuke because he didnt have it activated, once activated its automatic & ama isnt working.

^ Then I don't know why you are disagreeing. As I never said that once he's utilizing the 5 minutes he gets hit. But once it isn't activated and Obito needs to activate it, then Amaterasu is clearly faster. Mind you, the 5 minutes is more of the reusing of the process thing, it has little to do with speed.
