1. Why do you want to learn doton? I want to learn Doton because I feel like it is a powerful and versatile element. My favorite element is water and I feel like to become a true master of that I need to be able to fully understand and know how to use Earth as well.

3. What is doton strong/weak against? Doton is strong against water as it simply absorbs it, while being weak to lightning as lightning can easily pierce through earth and break it apart.

I start to gather my chakra heavily in my hands an imagine the Earth and all of its properties. When ready, I expel my chakra slightly into the paper, turning it into dirt and crumbling through my fingers.

(Doton No Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique

Descripton: Creates small pillars of earth, small tools, and small shields of earth

Pretty much all you have to do, is gather a small amount of doton chakra, then send the chakra into the ground, then manipulate the earth around you to create small pillars/tools and shields of earth.

The pillars is probably the most useful thing when it comes to this techniques since you can make one under your feet to boost you up into the air if you wish.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): While standing still I gather my chakra at the soles of my feet. When ready I release my chakra through my feet and into the ground, creating a pillar. The pillar throws me about 5 meters in the air before I land on my feet.

(Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique

Description: The user, emerging from the ground below the target area, pulls down the opponent so that only their head is above ground. Unable to move, the opponent can easily be decapitated or tortured.

Gather you doton chakra, then send it into the ground below your feet, turning it into a sand like feel, so you can slowly fall into the earth, once underground, find my clone and grab his feet and pull him underground and, pull yourself up.

This is good to counter techniques that fall from the sky like Dropping Lid, as you can simply go underground and dodge being trapped.

How you would use it in battle: I would use this jutsu to evade simple attacks or to pull my opponent underground and torture him. Or use a shadow clone to grab you while I attack
How you would counter it: Launch a lightning attack through the ground?
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I gather a supple amount of my chakra into my feet once again. I release it into the ground and start to feel the ground shift below me. After a very short time period the ground has turned into sand which I can sink into. I traverse underground to my sensei and grab his ankles from the ground to prove I was successful.

Would a lightning attack that travels through the ground stop this and kill me? If so how would I dodge it? Jumping up?

Er. Depends how strong the lighting attack is, if it's B-rank and above you most likely would be dead. If you're already in the ground, you would be able to much.

How you would use it in battle: I would make 2 staves and throw each one at my opponent, hopefully piercing his chest and one of his limbs.
How you would counter it: Use a lightning or wind attack to dispel the staves
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I channel my Doton chakra through my feet and into the ground. The two small rocks at my feet are transformed into two two-meter staves made of solid rock. I pick up one staff in each hand and throw it at a tree, Piercing the tree with both.

First, gather your doton chakra into your left arm, from there release the doton chakra from your arm, doing this it should create a ring of rocks that can be flung at your target.

How you would use it in battle: I would use this to counter an opponents kunai
How you would counter it: Shoot it with any D-rank jutsu other than water to cancel it or a C-rank lightning to go right through.
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I gather my doton chakra in my right arm. When ready I release it. A medium sized ring of rocks is formed that I fling at a tree, damaging it.

So would a D-rank lightning go through this attack? I'm still confused on elemental weaknesses based on rank.

Also;

-An A-rank combined with another A-rank does not give you a forbidden rank; it gives you the equivalent of an S-rank jutsu. Two B-rank will give you an A-rank, so on and so forth.

-Non linear combinations such as: B-rank combined with A-rank, will result in an S-rank jutsu. Since it would be debatable whether or not it’s considered an S-rank or an A-rank, we assume it’s the stronger of the two. This way, when defending, you’ll always be safe and no debate will arise. Again, when making a combination of two jutsu which differ by one rank, the resulting jutsu is one rank above the stronger of the two.

-The only exception applies to S-ranked jutsus. When combining an S-rank with another S-rank or an S-rank with an A-rank jutsu, it doesn’t become a Forbidden rank technique. By definition, a Forbidden technique requires that the user suffers severe damage when performing the technique. Hence, those two combinations will only result in a very strong S-rank jutsu.

Description: After performing the Rat hand seal, the user to control multiple sections of rock and move them around their opponent. The user then forms two gigantic sections that crush the opponent.

First put your doton chakra into the earth, the perform the Rat hand seal, then you will be able to control sections of rock and move them around your target, then form two huge sections that crush your target.

This is good for trapping the target.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I first get ready and gather my chakra in my body. I perform the rat handseal and a giant slab comes up on both sides of your clone and closes in very fast... to the point of nearly crushing.

While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth.

This is a handy jutsu.
Channel your doton chakra at your feet, the earth should change into fine sand if done correctly, this gives you the power to dig though the earth like a mold. You're able to sense what is happening above and whatnot.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I start to gather my Doton chakra into my legs. When ready I push it into the ground, creating a soft sand beneath me that I can maneuver into and move freely to gain the upper hand on my opponent. When underground I sense my sensei (pun) start breakdancing, and when I re-surface he is standing completely still.
