Anywho, let's start with business already, what is Earth, it's characteristics, it's strengths, it's weaknesses and, in detail, how it can be used with the other elements. When everyone's replied, link me.

Earth Release or Doton, is one of the 5 basic elements and one of the most versitile. The earth itself comes in many forms, from the biggest of rocks to the smallest grain of sand, and can be a solid (rocks), near liquid (mud) and near gas (dust). Because of the versitilite of Earth it is the most common element used when combining with other elements (Earth+Water=Wood, Earth+Fire=Clay etc). Also Earth's veriation in dencity and weight allow for anyone switch quickly from a defence

Description: After striking the ground with their hands, the user creates a large wall of earth in front of him/her. The defence is not perfect though, since a hard or drilling impact can puncture the wall. Also, since this technique only guards frontal attacks, the enemy can easily attack from the side or even from above

Description: This jutsu splits the earth apart to make a fissure. The size of the fissure is proportioned to the amount of chakra of the user.

Earth release has a number of pro's and con's:

Pro's: Earth element is naturally strongest against Water. Earths diversity in composition allows for a wide variety of combos, one example being to change the ground beneath a user into sand, allowing the user to travel through ground and rock in various ways which can be essential for both transportation and for setting up attacks. Another example is how Dust can be used to cloud an opponents vision or in a confinded space, can be used to choak anyone who inhails it.

Con's: Earth is naturally weakest against Lightning. Also because the Earth is compatible with most elements it can be turned against the user on occasions such as below

Most well known clan affiliated with earth are ninjas from Iwagakure and the most powerful Earth related Ninja are Danzo, Yamato, Kakashi, Jiraya and Oniki

When speaking of earth, it's the element tha comes from the ground and is strongly rooted element. Earth and Earth Release techniques are rock solid and steady and firm. Unlike many of the ohter elements that flow or spead, this element is the strongest element in terms of it's foundation. Earth isn't perticurally a fast element but it is strong and very versitile with the many uses it has. With that said, it's the earth nature, when one manipulate it to create Earth techniques the user's state of mind must be stern, rooted, and powerful and it must have a clear image for the jutsu.

As far as the element goes in terms of it's relationship with the other elements. Lightning has been seen as the natural weakness of earth while the element is strong against water. As for the other elements, when used in conjunction, Earth techniques can be turned into different elements. When used with Fire, the earth becomes molten and creates the advanced element of Lava. Though mud is basically a subset of earth, when used with water it can be used to create mud for more adhesive or supplamentary purposes. Lightning is naturally grounded as is the reason lightning can travel through the earth. Though a little unorthdox earth and lightning can be used in conjunction with one another, the lightning being used to travel along the earth technique in certian cases. Wind is an especially hard element to pair earth with, although in cases like with earth based projectiles, Wind release techniques can be used to enhance the speed and maybe even give a sharper edge to the earth technique.
