Earth Release techniques have the ability to change the strength and composition of the earth from being as hard as metal to as soft as clay, as well as manipulating their density, making them heavier or lighter. This includes allowing the user to travel through ground and rock in various ways which can be essential for both transportation and for setting up attacks or creating defenses or for offence. Pre-existing earth is not necessary seeing how the user may conjure there own. Earth is strong against water because earth naturally contains water or absorbs water to the point when it becomes muddy then dries up but weak against lightning because it can easily travel through and break the ground apart.

Tell me what earth is in a more philosophical sense.

uhm... earth is ground that we stand on? Sorry but i have no clue what you mean, i mean if i start talking about earth in such a realistic fashion then it wouldn't be much of naruto anymore now would it. After all that's what i'm trying to learn is earth release..

This is one of the more vanilla training methods and that is somewhat of a vanilla question.

Tell me what earth metaphorically represents. Give it your best shot.

Okay... Earth represents a sturdy wall, it is hard to destroy but when destroyed it is easily rebuilt again.

 

[Crutch Kaguya]

I really can't let you off the hook with one sentence. Give me two more sentences. (This is important in learning your first technique, so in a sense you already started learning techniques)

 

[Onii Chan]

Earth represents a strong will, it is hard to break. Earth represents life, it eventual crumbles.

 

[Crutch Kaguya]

-opens his mouth to shoot a small stream of fire from his mouth and onto his shoe that is touching his face.- Don't touch my face. - while crutch draws his foot back for a second due to the immense heat that was fired against his foot he spouts a stream of water from his mouth and onto the ground around him to soften the earth enough so he is able to reach up and grab the ground around the soaked area for leverage so he could escape.-

Now feel the earth around you, and feel what it personifies. All those things I told you to tell me about earth, let those things race through your body. Find the perfect balance between your mind and body for the earth element. Then channel your chakra into the earth below your feet while channeling emotions into the chakra and feel the chakra become one with the earth. Force your chakra to rise up beneath your in the shape of a pillar to lift you out from the dirt.
