waits at the training ground, expecting the arrival of his trainer. As means to pass time, he picks up a few pebbles and plays with them, tossing hem around and juggling them. Rufus then falls on his back to look at the blue haven above him. He smiles at puffs of white, that float above him neverendingly. "Am I at the wrong place, I wonder...?"

Yeah, i could have opened an entrance but where's the fun in that? I am Godot, legendary prosecutor and aspiring sensei. Those 6 freaks are Pein, my semi-loyal assistants. Before we begin your Doton training let's find out what you know. Tell me all you know about earth release. Include its uses, forms, elemental strengths and weaknesses, related Kekkei Genkai, and possible results when mixed with other elements such as Fire.

Rufus was alarmed as something suddenly gripped his feet. Before he could do anything, he was dragged underground when he suddenly lost consciousness. When he woke up, he saw 7 being standing around.Six of them had piercing as if though they were part of some emo groupies. The 7th one had a mask to cover his eyes, his hair was silver like, well built. As they began to speak, Rufus realized that they were here to train him in the arts of Earth Bending. Hearing the question, Rufus prepared to answer,
Earth element is one of the Basic Five elements. The basic five constitute of elements that are present in the nature namely, Earth, Fire, Wind, Lightning and Water. Normally most techniques have two aspects when it comes to creation

✦Shape Transformation



Nature transformation is the process by which a ninja uses his elemental affinity to transform a desired part of his chakra into an elemental form. A ninja can perform elemental transformation by transforming his chakra to resemble a particular element, in terms of properties. After that, by the use of handseals the user can mold the chakra and summon it forth to perform techniques. Commonly, a ninja can have affinity towards 2 elements. In rare cases, ninja's can wield more than two elements or even combine two existing basic elements to create a third element. These cases usually fall under Kekkai Genkai and Kekkai Tota.

Out of the basic 5, I consider Earth to be the second most versatile element after water release. Earth style is the art of manipulating earthn structures or creating earthen structures on their own, by the use nature manipulated doton chakra. Earth style users are frnated the ability to manipulate earth freely, creating constructs which maybe as hard as rock or even as soft as clay. Earth style jutsu can be considered as one of the most destructive elements after lightning and fire. A major point to note is that, earth style is the only style that is both versatile and destructive. A point to be noted is that a majority of the earth style jutsu's require direct contact with the ground, in order to be performed. The relation of Earth style with other elements is as follows:

✦Fire Style: Earth style jutsu's are neutral towards Fire style. A major advantage is that, Earth style jutsu's can be used a sheild to protect from the raging flames. On another note earth style can be used in conjunction with fire style, to create lava.

✦Wind Style: Wind style techniques can be blocked with the help of earth style jutsu's. The Earth can act as a shield to protect the user from incoming wind techniques. The earth act as a barrier inhibiting the path of the ravaging wind.

✦Water: Water Style techniques are weak against Earth Style Techniques. The main reason is the destructive power of earth. Earth release techniques have more mass compared to water release techniques and hence more force. Earth style techniques can force their way through the cohesive water molecule, splashing the water way in it's path. Another drawback is that, earth techniques can restrict the water techniques by acting as a container to hold the water and restrict it's movement and thereby effectively sealing it. Earth style techniques has one rank advantage over Water style. Although the disadvantage, water style techniques can be used in conjunction with earth style to create mud, one of the many effective combinations.

✦Lightning: Lightning style is strong against earth style. The lightning could surge through the earth and crumble them. Lightning is known to possess one rank advantage over earth style techniques i.e; A-rank Lightning can neutralize S-rank earth style techniques. Another aspect of Raiton jutsu is that if we have a means of knowing an earth jutsu is about to happen, we can channel lightning jutsu's to the ground in order to neutralize the doton chakra.

Some of the advanced form of earth release are Explosion Release, which is a Kekkei Genkai. Some other examples of KG are Wood release which is achiveved by a combination of Earth and Water style. Then there is Lava release, which is a mixture of both Earth style and Fire style. A kekkei Tota called dust releases incorporates Earth, Wind and Fire style.

My training method is straitforward: I post jutsu for you to perform with as much detail as possible to demonstrate your understanding of the technique and its inner workings. Your targets are usually Pein and their summons so you could provide a more "realistic" description of the jutsu's effects. Let's get started.

Since you've never molded doton chakra before try acquiring a strong mental image of the nature of earth (a description of earth's characteristics) and mold a portion of your chakra to mimic that nature. When you've got the hang of it try channeling a small amount of doton chakra into the ground and manipulating the earth to raise three small pillars from the ground, each with a different shape.

Rufus listens to his trainers word, soaking it all in. After the instruction, Rufus closes his eyes and clears his mind. He then draws out chakra from his chakra pool, slowly and steadily gathering them in a particular spot inside his body. Upon finishing, he pictures what earth feels like. With that in mind, he starts to impart properties onto the his gathered chakra, providing it with attributes that makes it resemble earth. The chakra is dense and stationary just like earth. After a while, he finishes transforming the chakra into Doton chakra. Now the last step of the jutsu, which was to use the chakra to manipulate earth. He starts to direct the doton chakra to his right leg and as the chakra builds up, Rufus slams his feet on the ground flushing out the chakra in his leg onto the earth, and uses it control the earth nearby, making pillars of earth to erupt of the ground. One pillar was cylindrical in shape, wide enough for a person to stand. Another ws more of a spike, enough to skew a persons limb. Another pillar was wide, sort of a small wall."How about that...?"

Nicely done. Now hold out your hand and raise a chunk of earth from the ground. Apply shape manipulation to it and form a staff you can use as a weapon. It is possible to throw it or even create multiple staffs but you'll only need one for now. Fight off this guy.

The user can then use it as a melee weapon or throw it with pinpoint accuracy at their opponent. A variation of this technique allows the user to create several staffs and launch them at the target, but with less accuracy.

Rufus carefully listens to the instructions of his trainer. He then starts to gather chakra from his chakra pool, little by little and then infuses it with properties of earth. Now the chakra becomes dense and heavy as it circulates through his chakra circulatory system. He then, directs the chakra to his right hand, as he extens his right hand outward, placing it parallel to the ground. His open palm faces the ground direct below, as he releases the already gathered chakra into the earth. Using his doton chakra, he looses a piece of earth
and dislogdes if from the rest of earth and as it rises, the chunk of rock shakes vigorously as Rufus's chakra cuts a section of the chunk of earth, to create a staff. The rest of the chunk drops to the ground, and shatter to pieces. As one of the 6 beings closes in on the distance, Rufus tightly grips the staff with both his hands. As the pein spins around to do the spin kick, Rufus places the staff parallel to his body and blocks the kick using the staff. Foof..that was really close.

Good job. Now gather doton chakra around your arm and produce a ring of floating rocks near it before hurling them at your target using your chakra. Strike him out.

Next, perform the Rat handseal and manipulate the earth to make several rock sections rise out of the ground surrounding your target. Then control them to form two larger sections you make come together and crush whatever is between them. Find your next victim.

Rufus closes his eyes and gathers chakra from his existent chakra pool. After gathering the required chakra, Rufus infuses it with properties of earth and slowly he performs nature transformation in order to create Doton chakra. Now, he extends his right hand with a clenched fist facing the pein with the baseball bat. He chennels his doton chakra to his right hand and releases it, whilst molding it and condensing it to take the form of earth. The chakra is molded into earth and he uses shape manipulation to shape the molded chakra into chunks of rock. The chunks of rock, orbits around Rufus's right hand slowly. He arches his right shoulder backward and thrusts it forward, releasing a barrage of rocks towards the Pein. "This might come in handy."

For the next technique, Rufus performs the Rat seal and uses it draw forth chakra from his reservoir with much ease. Then as before, he nature transforms the chakra to Doton chakra, making the chakra more dense. Rufus then channels the doton chakra to the ground below and uses it dislodge 4 sections of rock in front of him. Now using the doton chakra, Rufus directs the sections of rock towards the target. The doton chakra helps Rufus to maneuver the sections towards his intended target. Upon reaching the vicinty, the earth sections pair up and rise around the intended target, surrounding him and closes in on him, sandwiching him between the earthen sections.

Well done. Here is the best method of underground travel. You will need to channel doton chakra around your body, transforming the ground you are touching into fine sand that will be easy to dig through swiftly. Not only that, while you are underground you should be able to sense your location and people on the surface through the earth's magnetic fields. Finish this obstacle course. I recommend cheating.

(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique

Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth. While inside the earth, the user cannot make handseals and can only use Earth techniques below C-Rank. If he tries to do a higher ranked technique, he'll disrupt the Hiding like a mole technique and be left crushed.

Next, simply point your arm at your target and manipulate the ground, creating a few sharp pillars of rock to impale him from below. Pick one from the roster and do your thing.

(Doton: Ganchūsō) - Earth Release: Stone Spikes

Description: This technique lets the user create a few rock pillars that will protrude from the ground to skew the target. The rock pillars will even pass through obstacles to reach their target if these are less dense. The pillars/spikes can be done in any earthen surface, including other earth techniques of the user.

Here is another easy jutsu. Send your doton chakra throughout the ground and manipulate the earth causing it to shake a bit and knock your target off balance. There's your target.

Description: The user will concentrate and release their chakra into the ground to create a small tremer that can result in making the enemies lose their footing and fall to ground or miss the aim of a given technique.

Rufus listens to all the instructions for the 3 techniques."A cheat for a sensei, I hit the jackpot with you Sensei.." To start of with the first technique, he starts to draw forth chakra from his innate reservoir and nature transforms it to Doton chakra. Being used to it now, he does it with ease. The next step was to circulate the chakra through out his body. Rufus makes the doton chakra ciruclate through the chakra circulatory system and prepares to release the doton chakra. He first releases the doton chakra under his feet, turning the ground under him to loose dirt. Now being loose dirt, Rufus releases doton chakra through out his body and starts to dig underground, easily making his way through the dirt. Whilst underground, Rufus channels his chakra throughout the battlefield, using the ground as his receptors to any from of movements above the ground. This is enabled thanks to Rufus being able to sense the vibrations on the ground. Using this to his advantage, he easily maneuvers to the goal point. GOAL, GOAL, wait! Was that another sport????

For the next technique, like before Rufus starst to gather his chakra and nature transforms the chakra to Doton chakra. Once done, he starts to circulate the chakra through his chakra circulatory system, concentrating the chakra below his knees, mainly on his feet. He quickly eyes at all the pains and notices the Animal path being a bit cocky. Rufus points at the Deva path who was standing near the animal path and at the same time, he channels the doton chakra to the ground below him. rufus carefully directs the chakra towards the 6 peins location, infusing each piece of the ground with his chakra. All of a sudden, Rufus moves his pointed hand towards the animal path whilst making the earth around her rise abruptly in the shape of spikes. The spikes quickly impale her ass. "Don't mess with me..BIATCH"

Like the previous techniques, Rufus gathers his chakra and performs nature transformation, changing the chakra nature to earth. Once done, he starts to direct the doton chakra to his feet and then channel it the ground below him. Rufus is careful enough the spread the chakra evenly across the targeted area, infusing every particle with his chakra. Once done, he starts to concentrate on his chakra and begins to manipulate it. Rufus excerscise his control over the ground by making the chakra infused particles vibrate. Inturn the ground begins to shake, less at first and as Rufus makes the vibrations stronger thereby making Tremors stronger. The result is that all of the peins drop to the ground, face first.

Excellent. Now simply produce mud in your mouth as a thick, sticky blob and spit it at your target. As an attack it's hardly damaging but aim at the face and you could blind and choke the enemy. It could also work as a sticky trap if aimed at the floor. Ruin his day.

(Doton: Dorosandan) – Earth Release: Mudshot

Description: The user spits a thick globule of mud at the target. If aimed correctly, it can blind the target's vision and choke them. It can also be used to create a sticky patch on the ground.

Next, manipulate the rock in the ceiling of this cave to separate the rocks holding up the ceiling. This will make them come loose and cause the entire ceiling to collapse and fall on anyone inside. Not limited to caves only, the damage varies with the size of the earthen structure, meaning a large enough stucture can damage the enemy like an A rank technique. However, the falling rocks aren't fortified or manipulated by chakra so they are also easy to defend against. Try it out.

(Doton: Iwa Yado Kuzushi) - Earth Release: Stone Lodging Destruction

Descripton: The user will do one hand seal and cause nearby earth structures (either natural occurring ones on the field (such as cave ceilings, cliffs, etc), man made (buildings, etc) or jutsu made (up to C-Rank active structures)) to collapse and fall. This technique allows the ninja to control nearby stone and rock and dislodge any vulnerable or sensitive spots, causing the structure to collapse. This can be especially useful if in a cave or a stone lodging. The technique can loosen the rocks and cause them to come raining down on whomever is trapped inside. The damage depends on the size of the cavern or rock lodging above or nearby the target and not on the amount of chakra used which doesn't need to be high. A large cave with a thick ceiling can easily do the physical damage equivalent to an A-Rank technique but due to the damage not being focused or chakra fueled, its also easily defendable.

Now perform the Tiger handseal and transform the ground beneath your target into a river of mud to make him lose his balance as he is carried away from you. Watch out, one of these guys is getting a bit rape-y o_o

Description: After forming the needed hand seal (Tiger), the user transforms the ground underneath their opponent into a river of mud that throws them off balance and carries them away from the user. The mud created by this technique can also be used as a medium for the Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet technique.

After listening to the explanations for the techniques, Rufus prepares to do the first technique. He starts to gather the required chakra from his chakra reservoir. Once done, he infuses the chakra with properties of earth making it resemble more and more earth alike. Once completely nature transformed into Doton chakra, Rufus directs the chakra to his mouth using his chakra circulatory system. The doton chakra gathered in the mouth is then compressed and molded into an earthen form with a little bit of fluid attributes. The molded earth now takes the form of a thick globule of mud, which is shot towards the pein's mouth, making him choke on it.

Following the pein, Rufus reaches a cave and in there, Rufus gathers the necessary chakra from his innate reservoirs and nature transforms it into doton chakra. Upon doing so, he circulates the doton chakra through out his circulatory system and channels the doton chakra to the ground under him. Once done, he guides the chakra across the ceiling of the cave, searching for a vulnerable point which could cause the cave to tumble down. Once found, Rufus inserts his chakra into the rock and uses his chakra to manipulate the rock, in order to dislodge itself from the ceilng pillar, causing the ceiling to crash down as huge chunks or rocks, burying the pein's inside.

For the next technique, Rufus performs the Tiger seal and gathers chakra from chakra reservoirs and transforms the chakra to resemble earth in terms of properties. Once transformed into Doton chakra, Rufus runs the doton chakra through his circulatory system and directs it to his feet. Once done, he channels the doton chakra into the ground below him and guides the chakra towards the intended location. Using his chakra as a base, Rufus inserts his chakra into each and every earthen particle, slowly making them loose it's hardness and become more liquid like. Soon, he converts the ground at the intended location step by step, turning into more mud like. Soon the ground under the Asura path turns into a river of mud, swooping him off his feet and lets him fall on his ass.

Superb. Now perform the Ram, Horse, and Dragon handseals before manipulating the mud you just created into the shape of a dragon's head. Then have it gather mud and condense it into several balls within its mouth fired at your target. That guy looks like he's getting up. Finish him!

Description: When used with Earth Release: Earth Flow River, the user will then perform the Ram → Horse → Dragon they can create a dragon-like head that fires concentrated mud bullets at an opponent. This can also be combined with a fire jutsu to shoot lava toward an opponent. The dragon can be created from other mud techniques as along as a mud source is available.

Next, perform the Rat, Horse, Dog, and Snake handseals and raise many rock pillars from the ground. Control the pillars to surround your target, trapping him in a prison of earth. Make sure this adorable pup doesn't get lost.

(Doton: Ganchūrō no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Rock Pillar Prison Technique

Description: After performing the required hand seals Rat → Horse → Dog → Snake and they then create a large amount of rock pillars to rise from under ground. They can then be controlled to surround their opponent and create a bamboo-like prison of rock.

For this one simply strike the ground with your hands and make a slab of earth tilt upwards from the ground at 90 degrees, forming a wall in front of you. Alternatively, two slabs can be raised sideways in front of you as though you're opening up the ground, primarily used to clear the way of any hazardous materials covering the ground in that specific area. Defend yourself. Fūton: Kami Oroshi!

(Doton: Doroku Gaeshi) - Earth Release: Earth Shore Return

Description: After striking the ground with their hands, the user manipulates the ground in front of him to form a slab that tilts upwards, up to 90º, creating a wall of earth that can defend from incoming frontal attacks. In addition, the user can also create 2 slabs that will rise and tilt to the sides in front of him, as if "opening up" the ground. This can be done to create a clear path if anything hazardous is above the ground in that specific area.

Upon hearing the instructions, Rufus strings the seals Ram → Horse → Dragon, in quick succession. With the aid of the handseals, Rufus draws forth the required chakra from his innate reservoirs and infuses it with properties of earth. Once done, he directs the chakra to his feet, with the aid of his chakra circulatory system. For the enxt step, he channels the chakra into the ground slowly and steadily and guides it across the ground to the slowly flowing mud river. Using his chakra, he infuses a part of the already created mud with more chakra, granting more freer access. With this, he makes the mud rise and using shape manipulation, the risen mud is carefull shaped in the form of a dragon's head with it's mouth spread wide open. And from the open mouth, Rufus made concentrated bullets of mud project forward, towards the intended target.

For the next technique, Rufus quickly weaves the Rat → Horse → Dog → Snake handseal and uses it to draw upon the required chakra from his chakra reservoirs. Once the necessary chakr was gathered, he infuses the chakra with properties of earth. Completing the nature transformation phase, Rufus directs chakra to his legs with the help of his chakra circulatory system. Then, he proceeds to channel it the ground below and guide the chakra towards the 3 headed dog. Once at the dog's vicinity, Rufus infuses each earthen particle around the area with his chakra, bring the earth under his subjugation. Once that is achieved, he makes the earth more compact with his chakra increasing it's density and makes the earth rise in the shape of pillars. The torrent of pillars rise succesively, one by one completely encasing the puppy inside the pillar cage.

For the next technique, Rufus begins to draw chakra from his reservoirs. Once done, he starts to infuse the chakra with properties of earth making it resemble with how earth feels and moves. Once the complete nature transformation is achieved, Rufus directs the gathered doton chakra to his feet with the ehlp of his chakra circulatory system. Thereafter, he channels the doton chakra into the ground and guides it to the area a meter before him. Once done, he embedds each earthen particle in the area with his chakra, bring the earth before him under his control. Once done, he makes the ground more compact using his chakra and makes it rise, in the form of a wall, just in time to intercept the incoming whirling wind. The earthen takes the brunt force of the wind and finally shatters, thus countering the wind techniques completely.

Great. Now simply produce a river of mud in front of you like you've done before except this one can travel further and does not require the use of preexisting earth. Of course it doesn't move very fast due to its thickness but the main purpose of this jutsu is to be used in conjunction with water jutsu in order to speed up the river's flow or to make water jutsu muddy and more forceful. Try it out.

(Doton: Doro Hōshi) - Earth Release: Mud Spore

Description: This technique lets the user summon a river of mud infront of them by lifting one of their hands in the air. This technique can have water added to it to speed up the flow and increase its power.

Next, i want you to focus doton chakra throughout your body and merge with the earth itself, allowing you to travel through it up to 3 meters deep without having to dig or even move the ground. It is great for moving unseen and sneaking up on your target. The downside is your inability to sense what's going on on the surface and the inability to merge and unmerge quickly. Get over here.

Description: Using this jutsu, a person can hide underground until they're ready to attack an opponent by merging with the ground itself. By utilizing earth-chakra, the person can stealthily emerge from the ground without disrupting the ground around him. The disadvantage with this technique is that merging with the ground is rather slow and while perfomring the technique, the user is vulnerable to high ranked Earth techniques. The user isn't hidden from doujutsu or sensory ninjas and cannot travel beyond the 3 meter deep mark. Moving around in the ground is slow and the user cannot sense very well what is happening above.

After hearing the instruction, he starts to draw forth chakra from his innate reservoir and nature transforms it to Doton chakra. Being used to it now, he does it with ease. The next step was to circulate the chakra through out his body. Rufus makes the doton chakra ciruclate through the chakra circulatory system and prepares to release the doton chakra.He swings his right hand upwards and, releases the doton chakra under his feet, turning the ground under him to loose dirt, making the dirt more muddy, and finally into a flowing mud river. Using his chakra, he creates a strong current, enough to propel the mud river for about 15m. The mud river quickly washes the meditating pein away, making him submerge in the mud.

For the next technique, ike before Rufus starst to gather his chakra and nature transforms the chakra to Doton chakra. Once done, he starts to circulate the chakra through his chakra circulatory system. He ciculates the chakra in a such a way that, the doton chakra is spread evenly throughout his body. After finishing this, Rufus slowly absorbs the properties of the ground below him with the help of his chakra, allowing him to merge into the ground undetected. With his doton chakra as an armor, Rufus slowly sinks into the ground and after fully submerging himself, he makes his way towards the destination, easily making his way through the minefield.

Try the first jutsu again. That technique does not transform the ground, instead creating mud from your chakra.

After listening to the explanations for the techniques, Rufus prepares to do the first technique. He starts to gather the required chakra from his chakra reservoir. Once done, he infuses the chakra with properties of earth making it resemble more and more earth alike. Once completely nature transformed into Doton chakra, he circulates the chakra throughout his body with the aid of his chakra circulatory system. Next, he release the doton chakra into the air, whilst guiding it before him and molding the doton chakra to take the form of earth. Unlike before, Rufus is clear on the fact that he needs to create mud rather than solid earth. So, he while molding the chakra, he makes the earth more gooey and sticky, giving it properties of mud. Soon, a river of mud is seen to be formed before him, out of nowhere which readily gushes towards the meditating pein, engulfing him in the process.

Ok. Now perform the Rabbit, Boar, Rat, Horse, Tiger, and Snake handseals before channeling large amounts of doton chakra into the ground and manipulating a huge section of the ground to rise up. Then cause the entire thing to split in half, creating a chasm that can separate multiple enemies or clear a path. These guys need to be kept apart. Stop the violence! :T_T:

(Doton: Doryūkatsu) - Earth Release: Earth Flow Divide

Description: The user will first perform the required hand seals Rabbit → Boar → Rat → Horse → Tiger → Snake and slamming the hands on the ground, the user can, by flowing concentrated chakra into the Dragon Veins flowing underground, tear the earth apart, creating large chasms by raising the earth in two oposite sides in the desired location and then splitting that piece of earth through the center. The length, width, direction, and curve of the chasm are all up to the user. Manipulating the Dragon Veins requires fine chakra control, but if one has such skill, they can use this technique to divide the space between the enemy and their own team in two, destroy enemy camps or defences, and even to attack.
Note: This does not split the earth appart directly to cause opponents to fall in the fissure.

Next, perform the Snake handseal and slam your palm on the ground to cause it to break up and toss bits of rock, dirt, dust, etc into the air. It is mainly used a smokescreen or to destroy other earth techniques of the same rank or below. Asura's after you again. Use the jutsu to escape for now.

(Doton: Tsuchi Douyou no Hira) – Earth Release: Earth Shaking Palm

Description: After performing snake hand seal the user slams their hand on the ground. The result is that the ground becomes heavily turned up with chunks of rubble popping out of the ground. This technique is used as a means to distract opponents to either create an escape or follow through with a surprise attack although it can also do some damage or be udes to destroy enemy earth techniques of equal rank and bellow.

For this one perform the Snake handseal followed by the seal of confrontation (one-handed Ram). Then simply create rock encasing your arm like a large fist before striking Asura with your strongest punch. Go for a K.O.

Description: After performing the snake → Seal of Confrontation and then by encasing their arm in rock, the user can deal a powerful hardened punch against an opponent while being protected from direct contact with their target. If necessary, the weight of the rock can be increased to further increase the punch's destructive power through the Earth Release: Added Weight Technique or the Earth Release: Super Added Weight Technique.
