how exactly? GT trunks did nothing but get fodderized thouthout most of GT while future trunks was trained by gohan and could actually maintain his super saiyan form no problem. he also spent all his time fighting the androids (not winning) but fighting nonetheless. he also fodderized frieza and king cold without batting an eye lash

According to the canon: gt trunks by leaps and bounds. Some argue that kid trunks is stronger than future trunks. This is evidenced by the fact that he was a full power saiyan and future trunks was only ascended. Some say "kid trunks is too young to be stronger than future trunks", however gohan was only 2 years older and defeated cell. regardless, assuming kid trunks was at least roughly the same strength as future trunks, kid trunks after a decade would be very very strong

Adult trunks IS canon though. Last chapter of dragonballz, we see adult (non future) trunks. Based on his strength and implied strength growth, its reasonable to say that future trunks is weaker than adult trunks

but we're talking about GT trunks. these trunks are different trunks seeing as the adult trunks you speak of was capable of sustaining super saiyan while GT trunks found it difficult as if he was new to it. they are clearly different trunks
