For E3 2013, Microsoft kicked off their press conference with a preview of Metal Gear Solid – The Phantom Pain for XBox One.
As the video came up on the big screen, two men on horseback were shown meandering through a dry landscape, speaking to each other about a situation involving Afghanistan. And one of them was Snake.
That’s right – Metal Gear Solid fans now have even more compelling information about the next installment’s new features. One unique aspect that may have come as a surprise to many fans is that it will be in an open world format. In addition, they’ve added new stealth maneuvers, one of which showed Snake leaning off the side of his horse to avoid detection on the nearside of his enemies. Another fun little addition is the inclusion of real-time weather. They also highlighted the breadth of options players will have regarding transportation. A horse, tank and jeep were shown specifically. Other phrases Microsoft used were “Tactical Espionage Redefined…Deeper Stealth Action [and] Dynamic CQG.”
To finish out the Metal Gear Solid – The Phantom Pain trailer, they previewed some new characters. One female character is known as “Quiet,” and, as you could guess from her name, she is a mute sniper. They also showed “Eli: a youth that curses his fate…Skull Face: a ghost without a past…Ocelot : A rival living a lie” and many more.
Considering this new information as a whole, Metal Gear Solid will certainly be a game to watch out for as developments continue.
