i was talking to a friend about Poe's work yesterday and saw we have different opinion about his novels. so i think he is very good to discus about cause not everyone likes gothic romans. me think he is awesome and i like him cause of him morbid ideas, and some people think he lack hope.. my favorite novel is Black cat, which i think is the most popular
so what do you guys think about his work? do you like it? what is your favorite novel?

Edgar Allen Poe’s work is fantastic ^^, I’ve analysed a few of his texts including ‘The Black Cat’ he uses first person effectively to portray the emotions and thoughts of the narrator :D. I like how in 'The Tell Tale Heart' the readers can actually notice that the narrator is nervous and is feeling guilty because of his crime, through his repetition of words and the short sentences. My favourite was ‘The Cask of Amontillado’ only because the narrator uses puns throughout the text to show that Fortunato will die soon.

Edgar Allen Poe is one of my personal faves. Currently in english class we are doing Gothic/Romantic writers and he kicks @$$! Annabel Lee is also one of my favorites of his. The Pit and the Pendelum is good too, kinda short though...-_-

I like Spirits of the Dead

Thy soul shall find itself alone
'Mid dark thoughts of the grey tomb-stone;
Not one, of all the crowd, to pry
Into thine hour of secrecy.

Be silent in that solitude,
Which is not loneliness- for then
The spirits of the dead, who stood
In life before thee, are again
In death around thee, and their will
Shall overshadow thee; be still.

The night, though clear, shall frown,
And the stars shall not look down
From their high thrones in the Heaven
With light like hope to mortals given,
But their red orbs, without beam,
To thy weariness shall seem
As a burning and a fever
Which would cling to thee for ever.

Now are thoughts thou shalt not banish,
Now are visions ne'er to vanish;
From thy spirit shall they pass
No more, like dew-drop from the grass.

The breeze, the breath of God, is still,
And the mist upon the hill
Shadowy, shadowy, yet unbroken,
Is a symbol and a token.
How it hangs upon the trees,
A mystery of mysteries!

I love him! I have Barnes & Noble's limited edition complete of all his works so far my favorite is The Business Man. It is perfect! The perfect amount of sarcasm, humor, and insults.

Personally, I love "A Tell-Tale Heart". A great story, the beating of the heart scene even adapted into other scripts, such as Sponge Bob (See below).
