Dying Battery, plz help.

So My battery has started flashing the ominous orange thrice before turning white. As per my research mostly the battery will need to be replaced.

But I am tired of that shit, this is my third year of using this laptop and this is my third battery lol xD

Maybe I am a very bad user, so I would appreciate if anyone can tell me how to increase the life of these stupid batteries.

Also Is there something I can do to prevent it from dying? Since I cannot recharge it I have just kept it plugged in so that at least it does not waste the charged battery >_>

First of all lets learn a bit about your habits, do you constantly leave it plugged in? What are your settings for sleep, brightness, and alerts? And how much estimated time do you use it, and what are you using it for when you are using it. That should help get an answer. Also what type of computer and battery is it.

It could be his laptop, but there is a good chance it could be something he does and doesnt know it is causing a problem. I have an old laptop that works fine, no battery problems. Lets learn more about it before we make assumptions.

If you have a warranty or insurance for it then take it in to the store you bought it at.

If not then go to a local computer shop and have them take a look at it.

24x7 that's how long my laptop works. Its always plugged in now-a-days. I use it for surfing and gaming requirements. It may be turned off for 5 minutes each day. Programs like Photoshop and Handbrake are used extensively along with some games, which are a bit old. So to speak.

Computer is a Dell XPS, and it has a 9 cell battery.

Great info, One of the things that most people dont realize can cause problems is being constantly plugged in to your charger, and seeing as how you use it 24/7 it may be in your best interest to dedicate some time for being off of the charger, and possibly letting it alert you that is should be plugged in.
As for your uses, surfing and gaming should not be a problem that would cause your battery to continually go bad, and seeing as it is a dell xps, its odd that it is having this particular issue. If it is within warranty i would make a copy of all important documents and send it in to them.
Other wise, try to turn your settings to their lowest value and see if it affects how long the battery holds a charge, if it does' you may be able to kickstart the battery back into working, or at least better than it is at the moment.

1.Enable Power Saving mode in Control Panel.
2.Reduce the Brightness.
3.Reduce usage time.
4.Keep Charging the Battery whenever you're using it.
5.Change your batteries,This time buy the same one as the company of the laptop. U_U

Leaving your battery constantly plugged in may be the problem. If you use your laptop constantly plugged in, you might as well take out the battery.

It's obvious it's not battery's fault your laptop is old.

The battery life for it is 1 hour and it seems fine for 1 hour.. I didn't even had to change the battery.

Li ion batteries don't overcharge so keeping laptop plugged is not a problem but the heat affects the capacity of the battery. Their life time is in charge cycles. You should not completely discharge them. Keep it above 30. Nor charging it again and again when it is above 70. They also degrade over time depending on temperature. Some Lenovo laptops have built in apps that do this automatically to improve battery life. When my laptop was new one I used to do that but later it was difficult to keep maintaining that practice.
Now it is at half of its original capacity.

battery's hold charge, their capacity to hold the amount of charge become weaker overtime, alot of factors can cause this, are when the battery is effected by elevated charge voltages (lithium-ion can no hold no much than 4.20v/cell, but if it stays at such a voltage over extended periods it can drastically shorten the batteries life, this can happen if you keep ur laptop plugged in for a long time, even if it tops off or terminates the charge) the charge held by each battery differs and so do the amount of cycle charges by each battery, I can only assume you must own a very shit laptop with a crappy battery. Heat and climate factors also affect this, if you have ur laptop tucket in a blanket or on a bed while it's in use is obviously going to cause heat buildup and shorten the life excpetency of the battery.
