The cast and staff of the Durarara!! anime franchise announced at Dengeki Game Festival 2014 on Sunday that a new Durarara!! television anime series is in the works. The story takes place a half year after the first series at Tokyo's Ikebukuro neighborhood, but the broadcast date has not been announced.

The main staff is reuniting for the new series, but Brains Base is not credited. Takahiro Omori is directing at the studio Shuka. Noboru Takagi is in charge of the scripts and Takahiro Kishida is designing the characters. Macaroni Yoshimori is scoring the soundtrack.

Ryohgo Narita's Durarara!! novels with art by Suzuhito Yasuda have inspired multiple adaptations, including a television anime in 2010, multiple video games, and several manga series. Yen Press publishes the manga in North America, while Aniplex of America licensed the anime.

The new anime is part of the 10th anniversary of Durarara!! The second arc of Ryohgo Narita's original Durarara!! light novels will be set two years in the story's future under the title Durarara!! SH. The first Durarara!! SH volume will ship on April 10.

Finally some good news for the anime section. Such a great series and a second season is being announced, I'm sure I can't be the only one who's excited for this. Ryohgo Narita's said a small something on his twitter as well regarding it, basically he's saying it will happen, but not much else can be said before the official announcement.
