Well this is my own theory, and I completely understand there is no basis to draw this conclusion.

It was just something I thought of on day thinking about Dragon's background, and how the Celestial Dragon's and D's are these swarm enemies. And I thought it might be a interesting story if 2 of them fell in love? and I thought of it like a Romeo and Juliet storyline.

And I thought could be interesting if Luffy ended up being half Celestial Dragon and Half D?

Like I said I know there is nothing at all that point towards this. It was just a thought that came to me one day.

Everyone knows the best part about sailing the world is starving to death!

Well Pirates use to steal food items like vine, fruits, dry fruits etc. They used to have a particular area of operation after which they goes into hiding eg: Somalian Pirates. These guys were not moving round the world in their shipping vessels.

Also after their raids they use to spend like extravagants. Best example is Pirates of Carribean 1st movie where Barbossa's crew spend last of Aztec Treasure without knowing that it was cursed in Totuga and other places.

Shipwright, captain, navigator, cook, and doctor are the pinnacle roles.

I see u left the second most important guy in a Ship. Even wiki has mentioned First Mate is 2nd in command and he/she is the one who checks other guys doing their respective roles in the ship.
