It's the law, he knew about his strikes. It was his choice, now he has to live with it for the rest of his life.

I'm proud to live in a country where we have some of the strongest donut laws on record. This will deter not only other donut theft but thefts of other confectionery treats such as twinkies and macaroons.

Seriously that Judge should be removed from office.

Haha. Shouldn't do the crime if he can't handle the time.
He knew he was on his 3rd strike. At the end of the day, a crime is a crime.
Being a thief is still disgusting, not matter what the amount is.
Saying "it was only 50 cents" doesn't really make any difference.

If everyone was to do what he did, shops would lose out on considerable amounts of money.
I have to pay for my food when I buy it. What makes him think he is a special and doesn't have to?

Deserved what he got in my opinion

My issue with people who say 'he had it coming, his fault entirely' is that, do you really believe that? Just because a law is in effect, there are no if, and or buts out of it? That there are really no alternative solutions to the crime, even if it happens to just barely pass as what the law sees as inexcusable?

Come on guys think for yourselves. You shouldn't be so bound by rules and customs. I don't believe this guy deserved life, yes, I watched the entire video before posting it, and I believe he should AT MOST have gotten 2 years. In a perfect year I'd suggest 'hey, 1 month get it over with', but since people in authority like to give the 'years' sentence, then 2 suits it.

1 year per quarter of the price.

dude if everyone in america did what he did and one person doing this are two incredibly entirely different situations

how on earth could you even compare those 2.

Because if one person can do it, everyone should be able to do it.
I don't see how people can use the excuse "it's only 1 person".

At the end of the day, thieving is thieving and he deserved exactly what he got.

His fault. He shouldn't have stolen the damn donut and he was already a criminal on two prior accounts.
