This.
Some people get carried away. Some dubs are good but usually I prefer sub.

Subbed is almost always dramatically better, and the reason for that is simple: money. Unfortunately, anime just isn't very popular in English speaking countries, so English-language anime distributors simply can't afford skilled voice actors. On top of that, they usually don't have the budget to hire talented writers who can seamlessly translate the dialogue without it sounding awkward and cringe-worthy. And, of course, the Japanese language, in my opinion, sounds a lot (expletive) cooler than English.

The voices of dubbed version suck most of the times. Subbed version is way better .

I don't watch much anime, so here's my preference for what I do watch.

Death Note, Yugioh, Yugioh GX-Dub
Soul Eater-SUB
Naruto-Both.

Sub is better for emotional tones, as dubs have to put in voices after it's animated to match up to the lip movement. For the sub, voices are first and then animation. Dub has to have emotion, but still match up with the lip movement. It's a hinderance.

Not all dubs are bad, the English dubbing of Dragonball z was preferred over subs by Akira himself. Deathnote's dubbing was superb for all i know, there are a few anime where dubs don't seem to match the character, many if i may say, but atm same time there are various anime's with spectacular English dubbing.

On a side-note... Oruchimaru has a better English dubbed voice ~.~

It really depends, but overall, subbed over dubbed, because of the language itself. English, compared to Japanese, seems much more rougher and less...intense or emotional than Japanese. A small whisper, a decree spoken by a character - all of these sound more emphasized upon in Japanese rather than English.

Also, I respect a lot of Japanese voice actors, but it doesn't mean I don't have my favorites such as Liam O Brien, from the dubbed.

Yes, I watched Naruto dubbed but when I got caught up with Shippudean, I got used to the subbed voices. In my opinion it just depends on what anime it is. Like take Fairy Tail for example, I personally love the subbed because the voices are fit perfectly. When I watch the dubbed of Fairy Tail the voices are super weird. I prefer subbed a lot of the time. I know Clannad, and Angel Beats was good dubbed.

Most of the times, the english voice actors are just plain awful and I cannot stand them. I personally enjoy sub more... but that is just my opinion.
