1: That is a very scary Idea
2: The only way it wouldn't work is if Lee's drunkenness made him unable to focus enough to engage the gates or sustain them once drunk. They did it in one of the Shippuden Movies but I don't know if Kishimoto would write that in the manga.

i dont think it be practical the gates put a huge strain on the body and nothin sobers you up like extremem pain but if anything id say the unpredictable movements would kinda waste time and valuable energy in the gates

I think his metabolism would burn the alcohol too rapidly to have any lasting effect. He would need to get REALLY smashed first, then pop the gates, or vice-avers.
