This category always trips me up regarding characters in general. How's it even scaled? Physical Strength? Durability? Is it only for Melee Attacks? Or does it include Ranged Attacks as well? In all honesty, I think this category needs a new scoring method, here's my opinion on things:

Strength Scoring Method (SSM) - To accurately score a character's Strength it takes a bit of Math, well as non-fanboyish thinking (hyping your character's technique beyond comprehension; you'll understand this later). The SSM will not simply focus on Physical Strength no, this method will focus on the character's fighting-based style eg; Melee, & Ranged. Now how accurate this system is simply depends on how powerful the user's TOP FIVE techniques in their arsenal are.

Q: What do I mean by Top 5?

A: The Top 5 Stronger/Powerful Offensive Type Jutsu in said character's arsenal

Q: Why only Offensive Type Jutsu? Why not Defensive? What about Hybrids?

A: Offensive Type Jutsu are the most common Strength showcases however, Defensive Type Jutsu perform the same job, but they're a minority sadly to Offensives. Hybrid techniques (meaning Jutsu that can serve as both an Offensive, and Defensive can be listed, and used for the SSM System, seeing as the technique favors both types of attacking)

I. Choosing Your Character

This portion of the segment is well self-explanatory. Of course you're going to need to choose what Character you're going to be using the SSM System on. My character choice (as everyone should know) will be Gaara. I want to note that also this works for Pt.1 Characters as well.

II. Picking The Top 5 Strongest Jutsu

To accurately assess your Character's Strength, you're going to have to use their Top 5 Techniques (measuring the pinnacle of their Strength), rather than the weaker ones that don't showcase the characters full-potential in the Strength department. We can all somewhat agree on a character's Top 3, and Top 5 techniques (although some techniques can, and will be interchangeable) so this portion should be a problem regarding the SSM System (my choices won't be showcasing the Top Five, but more so random techniques);

My choices:

1) Air Sand Protective Wall
2) Desert Layered Imperial Funeral
3) Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral
4) Quicksand Waterfall Flow
5) Prison Sand Burial

You can go ahead, and give a detailed description of why you chose so & so for your Top 5, for a more convincing SSM if the public, or whoever doesn't agree with the placement.

III. Jutstu Rating

You've chosen these Five Techniques, now you must rate them accurately, and honestly (I'm sure people will criticize the overall Strength of said Jutsu you've chosen, either accept the general feedback, and lower the score of the particular technique, or argue your ass off til you either get defeated, and end up wrong and/or convince the majority that you're rating assessment is correct; I don't really care) based on several properties of the given technique eg;

Air Sand Protective Wall's properties would be: Destruction, Size etc. Whatever else you can think to add properties to the said technique add them, and generally rate them on that. There will be different properties for different techniques meaning you can compare Gaara's Sand Technique to say Kakashi's Raikiri they just don't add up one has blunt force, the other has piercing. Simply rate the techniques accurately is all I'm preaching here.

Ratings:

1) Air Sand Protective Wall - 5
2) Desert Layered Imperial Funeral - 3.5
3) Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral - 4
4) Quicksand Waterfall Flow - 4
5) Prison Sand Burial - 5

IV: Add The Sum, then Divide

From what I've scored (note: not everyone will agree with the numbers I've listed above, if that's the case for someone using the SSM System simply point out what you think is flawed, and try to negotiate why so & so needs to be lowered and/or raised.

My Ratings:

1) Air Sand Protective Wall - 5
2) Desert Layered Imperial Funeral - 3.5
3) Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral - 4
4) Quicksand Waterfall Flow - 4
5) Prison Sand Burial - 5

5 + 3.5 + 4 + 4 + 5 = 21.5

The Sum: 21.5

Now take 21.5, and divide that number, by the number of Jutsu you rated (5).

21.5/5 = 4.3

The Quotient: 4.3

↓ ↓ ↓ ↓

The Final Number: 4.3

You've reached a scoring of 4.3.

V: Score Scaling

You've gotten the score of 4.3, finally after all that hard-work you're ready to accurately assess your characters Strength Level. The final scoring will be this:

0.5 - 1.2 = 1

Meaning, if your final scoring is anywhere between a 0.5 to 1.2 your character scores a 1 in the Strength category.

1.3+ = 1.5

Meaning, if your final scoring is anywhere between a 1.3, or higher your character scores a 1.5 in the Strength category.

1.6 - 2.2 = 2

Meaning, if your final scoring is anywhere between a 1.6 to 2.2 your character scores a 2 in the Strength category.

2.3+ = 2.5

Meaning, if your final scoring is anywhere between a 2.3, or higher your character scores a 2.5 in the Strength category.

2.6 - 3.2 = 3

Meaning, if your final scoring is anywhere between a 2.6 to 3.2 your character scores a 3 in the Strength category.

3.3+ = 3.5

Meaning, if your final scoring is anywhere between a 3.3, or higher your character scores a 3.5 in the Strength category.

3.6 - 4.2 = 4

Meaning, if your final scoring is anywhere between a 3.6 to 4.2 your character scores a 4 in the Strength category.

4.3+ = 4.5

Meaning, if your final scoring is anywhere between a 4.3, or higher your character scores a 4.5 in the Strength category.

4.6+ = 5

Meaning, if your final scoring is anywhere between a 4.6, or higher your character scores a 5 in the Strength category.

TL;DR Steps to using the SSM System

I. Choose your Character

- Ok, I'll use Gaara for example

II. Pick 5 of the Characters Strongest Jutsu

Air Sand Protective Wall, Desert Layered Imperial Funeral, Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral, Quicksand Waterfall Flow, & Prison Sand Burial.

III. Rate the 5 Jutsu

From 1-5 (No Fanboy/Fangirl-ing; Hyping the Technique(s) overall Strength Scoring) Accurately & Honestly regarding its Power, Size, Destructive Force, Piercing, Cutting Etc. Rate the listed 5 techniques (whatever properties the Jutsu takes on as explained in the upper section):

(a): Air Sand Protective Wall: 5
(b): Desert Layered Imperial Funeral: 3.5
(c): Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral: 4
(d): Quicksand Waterfall Flow: 4
(e): Prison Sand Burial: 5

IV. Add, then divide the sum by 5

- 5+3.5+4+4+5=21.5 -> 21.5/5 = 4.3

V: Now Scale It

4.3 = High 4 = 4.5; Possible Fourth Databook Strength Score = 4.5 Strength

Please test this out on a Character, and show your results comparing them with the current databook, and your predictions for the next.

No way, I legit was doing range calculations, then that popped up. I swear! Hey bro, but can you try it for a character, and see if it seems legit. For like Minato/Itachi etc.

Who give this scoring, Kishi?

For the actual Databook? Yeah I think.

This is a Method I made like 10 minutes ago, just seeing if it's legit. Try it out, I'll make a template, and submit it in the OP in a second.

...does no one see the glaring problem with this thread?

Strength is not calculated based on their most powerful Ninjutsu(s).

Do you know this? Ninjutsu is calculated by the arsenal in which you possess.

Strength could be a multitude of things. Just try it out, and test it. No Harm done anyway.

I.Choose your Character:

Itachi Uchiha (Haxed)

II.Pick 5 of the Characters Strongest Jutsu:

Amateratsu, Izanami, Tsukiyomi, Susano'o, Crow Clone Technique

III.Rate the 5 Jutsu:

(a): Amateratsu - 4.5
(b): Izanami - 5
(c): Tsukiyomi - 5
(d): Susano'o - 4.5
(e): Crow Clone Technique - 4

IV.Add, then divide the sum by 5:

4.5+4.5+4+5+5=(23/5)=4.6

V.Now Scale It:

4.6 = 5 = Final Databook Strength Scoring = 5

I'm also factoring in his Susano and Amateratsu relatively to others showcased, along with their own capabilities.

you are overcomplicating it. Strength means physical strength only and nothing else. The techniques you mentioned are listed under ninjutsu category.

Hm. That seem legit with Izanami, and Crown Clone. However, I wouldn't really place Crow Clone, and Izanami in the top offensives well due to Izanami having circumstances, and Crow Clone being beaten by say a Katon. Try substituting those two for a different Jutsu.

I.Choose your Character:

Itachi Uchiha (Haxed)

II.Pick 5 of the Characters Strongest Jutsu:

Amateratsu, Yasaka Magatama, Tsukiyomi, Susano'o, Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Flower Nail Crimson

III.Rate the 5 Jutsu:

(a): Amateratsu - 4.5
(b): Yasaka Magatama - 4
(c): Tsukuyomi - 5
(d): Susano'o - 4.5
(e): Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Flower Nail Crimson - 3.5

IV.Add, then divide the sum by 5:

4.5 + 4 + 5 + 4.5 + 3.5 =3.4

V.Now Scale It:

3.4 = 3.5 = Final Databook Strength Scoring = 3.5

That's what I got for Itachi.

I don't really get into the databook stuff. Seems to be a method of hyping.

But I do have a question about the scoring in general 0-5, is 5 the most destructive jutsu known? or is it more like a category (like used with hurricanes and storms)?

Side thought: earlier I was thinking of the difference between rasengan and chidori (at base no variants) . Both can cause mortal wounds but chidori's has to hit someone where vital to be a killing blow (without special defenses), meaning more room for error. How much is based on a particular user with a certain jutus? This maybe a no duh kinda statement, but you couldn't say that Kakashi's and Sasuke's Chidori autmatically had the same rating. Not could you say a shadow clone from Naruto would have the same effectiveness as the 2nd's

It really is a method of hyping in 100% honesty. Alright for your 1st question:

I would be like it's sort of nothing new to the plate etc, while 5 being yeah I guess you could say destructive, some 5s will be huge in size, etc. It's actually just dependent on the raters honesty, and accuracy because the Databook itself is determined by none other than a Human Brain similar to everyone else on base. So if we can guess the outcome, I'm sure the chances are greater to predict the Fourth Databooks numbers.

2nd Question:

Honestly it isn't based on the particular user, more so based on how much damage for those types of techniques (piercing/blunt/Direct Confrontation etc.) . You're right Kakashi's Raikiri would reach a 4.5 (from my point of view), while Chidori would reach a 4. So the outcome ratings aren't the same from my perspective.

There is a 'Ninjutsu' category for a reason

You're so observant. And what exactly do you think they base Ninjutsu off of? The vast arsenal, as well power of the Ninjutsu. Strength is all that, and more. Honestly, if you don't agree just hop out the thread, and leave it be. Honestly this is just a little experiment I want to see that provides legit Strength numbers.

Who cares.

If you don't understand how Strength is measured, it's probably best to ask instead coming up with your method...

Strength: Displays not just arm and leg power, but full body muscular power.

Using Itachi as an example, he doesn't have 4.5 due to some convoluted "SSM" formula. He has 4.5 because he kick people into concrete walls and psychically hold his own against Sage Mode users.
