Looks: Buggy is a slim, but muscular man. He has long, bright blue hair and has a large, round red nose, similar to those worn by clowns. His nose, however, is real. Buggy is very sensitive about his nose and becomes enraged when others make fun of it. Buggy's face is usually covered in makeup. He is frequently seen with cross bones forming an 'X' painted onto his forehead, and with blue lines near his eyes. He is almost always wearing bright red lipstick, which adds to his clown like appearance.
In terms of wardrobe, he often dons a striped white and red shirt with short sleeves, white gloves reminiscent of the ones worn by clowns, a sash around his waist like many other pirates, and a pair of loose pants reaching to his calves, just above a pair of striped socks and pointy shoes. He also has a scarf around his neck. Hanging from his shoulders there is an orange, fur-lined captain's coat. On his head he has an orange hat with his jolly roger on it, over a bandanna with the same pattern of his shirt. Recently, however, Buggy has been seen wearing a similar outfit, but rather than an orange jacket and hat, they are white. (See pictures.)
Personality: Although he has the attire of a clown, Buggy often plays the part of a fool. Though he isn't stupid in the conventional way, he frequently overestimates himself, and makes ridiculous claims and challenges in order to further his ego. This habit often lands him in troublesome situations. However, he is also graced with extreme luck, which seems to allow him to escape from many a situation virtually unscathed, where many others would have died. He also enjoys being the center of attention, and thoroughly enjoys being complimented, even if it's out of sarcasm. That said, Buggy is a very energetic and enthusiastic person, and he always enjoys a good party.
Buggy often initially has inappropriate reactions. For example, when something small and rather insignificant happens, Buggy often completely overreacts for a second or two, before realizing what actually happened, and calming down. In contrast, Buggy at times completely under reacts. For example, when surprised by an enemy or rival, Buggy will often at first address them in a polite, civil manner, until he realizes who they are, and then he usually shouts at them.
Buggy puts the word "flashy," into almost all of his sentences, although it often won't make sense. For example, he is often caught saying things like, "And now, I flashily sweep the floor!"

In addition to the standard ninja equipment (which he keeps in a pouch on the right side of his lower back) Buggy carries many daggers. These daggers are hidden within his captain's jacket, which allows him to take them out and put them away extremely quickly. In total, Buggy has twelve daggers.
He also has a special pair of boots which have daggers hidden within them. By simply clicking a certain part of the boots against the ground, buggy is able to make the blade of a dagger emerge from the tip of his shoe, creating a bladed boot of sorts.

History:Buggy was born into the Hozuki Clan thirty-nine years ago. Buggy grew up like most young shinobi of Kirigakure did. He joined the academy at a young age and routinely went through the academy as most of the others did, fearing the graduation exams. Buggy, being a member of the prestigious Hozuki Clan, was naturally expected to pass. However, he surpassed all expectations.
When the day finally came, Buggy faced off against his opponent, a young girl whom stood no real chance against Buggy. Naturally, Buggy dominated the following battle, but when it became clear he had won, he wouldn't let it end. He went on and on, torturing the girl with his cruel daggers, causing her excruciating amounts of pain, before she finally bled to death. The leaders of the village saw promise in this. However, they didn't fully grasp how much Buggy had enjoyed killing the girl.
Buggy, like all who had passed the exams, was promoted to a genin and assigned to a team. The first few missions assigned to the team were quite routine and ordinary. However, on the first mission that lead the team outside the village, only Buggy returned. Naturally, there was a great deal of confusion as to why. It was only a C Ranking mission, after all. What possibly could have went so wrong.
After a quick investigation, the answer became quite clear. Buggy had killed them. Ever since he had returned, Buggy had been giggling, and acting very oddly. When asked, he happily confessed to having killed them, calling it the time of his life.
Before they were able to apprehend him, Buggy dashed from the village and quickly escaped to a nearby port. At this port, there was a ship full of rogue ninjas, calling themselves pirates. Buggy wasted no time in joining them, and shortly after he came aboard, the ship set sail, leaving the port, and Kirigakure behind. Buggy quickly got to know several of the crew mates, and was surprised that many of them had similar pasts and tendencies as he did. Originally, Buggy had planned on killing as many of them as he could. However, the higher ups of the crew told him that he would have his fair share of violence, which kept Buggy's blood lust at bay, for a time.
A few weeks after their departure, the crew arrived at a small village on an island. The crew easily wiped out the defenses of the island and proceeded to plunder the town. It was then that Buggy first set his eyes upon treasure. His love for killing was instantly pushed aside as an insatiable greed took over him. As he reveled in the treasure, he began laughing maniacally, just as he had done after killing his team in Kirigakure. This laughing earned him a reputation as a clown.
The idea of being a clown stuck with Buggy, and he began to dress, and act more and more like a clown. It was then that he began wearing makeup and inserting "flashy" into all of his sentences. The crew appreciated his good humor, as well as his talents in battle.
Several years passed in this way. In this time, Buggy met Gin and Xanthe aboard the ship. At first, Gin and Xanthe were weirded out by Buggy's act of being a clown, but after a time, they to came to appreciate his brand of humor, and befriended Buggy. It was then that the leader of the rogue shinobi decided to disband the crew. This sent all of the members in their own direction.
Most of the members were quickly captured by tracker ninja from their village of origination, but Buggy was smarter than that. He quickly determined who it was who was tracking him and set up an ambush for them. Thus, the tracker was killed with ease. Knowing that he had a few days without worry, Buggy quickly moved across the countryside, gathering a band of ragtag rogue ninja and bandits. He then lead them to a port, where they easily stole a ship.
Thus, Buggy created his own crew of rogue ninja. This crew was obviously less powerful than the one he had previously been in, but it was still quite powerful. Several years passed, and Buggy and his crew scoured the sea, stealing mountains of gold from other vessels and small towns alike.
On one fateful morning, Buggy, out of greed, decided to attempt to attack a larger town than they normally did. Things, at first, went splendidly. They easily outmaneuvered the town's guards, and were having a party in the town square in order to celebrate. That was when two shinobi from the village of Kirigakure showed up and quickly defeated Buggy and his crew.
Unlike most of his crew, Buggy escaped. Having matured, and had his greed and blood lust shrink, Buggy fled to the village of Konohagakure, where he, after a great deal of pleading, and a bit of bribery, was allowed to join as a shinobi.
