I don't understand why everyone likes him so much - The first movie he was decent, but still a pretty bad villain who's just insane and has a pathetic reason to slaughter Goku. The second he has maybe two minutes of combined lines and grunts. The third? Ew.

if it's solely for power, still not positive why. He's weaker and slower than Perfect Cell, which puts him less than the middle tier for power. Not to mention 'fans' could do better with choosing a character solely based on strength and go to Buuhan or Buutanks, or just Vegito. The strongest in the verse.
