dragon ball xenoverse story follows DBZ 2015 movie

Basically since its going to be continuation of battle of gods. where the story is rumored to be Goku to be under the training of Whis and Beerus he is going to travel to the the DBZ multiverse in order to learn more about super saiyan god form and why it exists, also the main bad characters that goku is going to fight is the most powerfull god of destruction in the multiverse who also appears to be the super saiyan god.
this is also where the whole name "xenoverse" plays in, because it must be some kind of either the god name or the universe name.

then why would he be in anyway directed towards canon character? it wouldnt make sense for the dimps to use the same repeated custom character in the game, proving that he probably will have some kind of role to play in the single player

I think I read on saiyanisland that he's from something like Future Trunks timeline, so maybe they know each other? He just looks like Gohan as a super saiyan god, I'm thinking it's just him from a different timeline, pure speculation but if Gohan continued training the whole time after Cell, he would have been far ahead of Goku.
I don't think it'd be out of the question for gohan to become a god, and that'd explain why he's stronger. Gohan with his potential unlocked was like SSJ3 Goku level so he'd be so OP having trained that whole time.
