I believe as a creation God, Zamasu created "Black" a being of darkness and destruction with the intent to wipe out mortals. By using the time ring, he can travel through different dimensions and eras and possibly hide himself from other God's of destruction. Zamasu cannot destroy things as he pleases since he is a God of creation, and not destruction. So he creates a living manifestation of his will. And his image of the strongest mortal is none other than Goku--which inspires Zamasu to make his will transform itself to Goku's image.

Zamasu could possibly kill the Supreme Kai, taking the position for himself, and while Zamasu is creating (possibly creating more "God's of destruction") and being the Supreme Kai, his will is out there destroying mortals as he pleases--as just another terror of the universe like Majin buu. It is a commonly mentioned thing that Zamasu is a creator, I think he is going to create either his version of a god of destruction or just wants to create destruction itself

Also I believe this could potentially open the door for the next arc: Universe War between Universe 7 and 10? It would introduce more warriors from Universe 10 before the tournament and create rivalries and breed character development--which I believe is the tournament is the last or second to last arc of the series. The war could be sparked by the fact two creation gods could die from universe 10 by universe 7 however righteous they were in doing so.

What do you guys think of Black's creation and the future of the series?

Edit: to spice things up and make the war interesting, the arc introduces universe 3, and they side with universe 10 and then Beerus goes to champa for help and we have universe 6&7 vs 3&10. Or just 7 vs 3&10, again more characters from other universe will be introduced before the tournament

Gowawasu told zamasu he couldn't kill mortals only gods of destruction can so I think that in the future goku takes over as God of destruction and zamasu finds out and becomes like goku so he can kill mortals

That's the general theory that everyone has behind Blacks origin; that somehow Zumasu created Black, but there's more to that than Zumasu creating Black. For starters, I don't think Black isn't a manifestation of Zumasu's hatred towards mortals. I'm leaning more towards the theory that Black is using Goku's body from Trunk's alternate timeline, seeing as how after he recieving a blow to the chest by Goku, Black had repeatedly clenched his chest in pain. Probably a reference to Goku's heart disease.

There's also the question of why Black appeared in Trunk's alternate timeline and not Goku's, and is it when Black speaks of Goku's name, he holds some sort of respect for him, while Zumasu holds complete hatred towards all mortals. You're close, but you're not just there yet.

I understand me not keeping up may be leading to my confusion by why would a God of CREATION who is fighting Gods of DESTRUCTION create something to DESTROY mortals? That seems kind of counter to the whole creation concept.

Got ya'. My first read I thought you meant he was fighting Bils as a god of creation vs a god of destruction type battle, I didn't realize he disliked his position as a creator, so I was confused why a creator would create a destroyer to fight a destroyer.

Zamasu is not allowed to destroy failed mortal lifeforms and universe 10's god of destruction doesn't seem to do it's job (in Zamasu's opinion), so he kinda takes matters into his own hands and creates a tool that is meant to destroy.

But then again, why did he give Black the appearance of Goku and what is his business with universe 7 then? I'm sure he would have more than enough to do in universe 10 and maybe even its counterpart, universe 3, too.
