How do you define the term "new"? I mean we see alot of new aspects from the respective universes, the new gods of destruction will certainly have some mythological background like Beerus. So what "new" thing did you expect to be introduced?

Gohan is a teacher, his profession is not being a martial artist like the other fighters. So he can be on the sideline for as long as he likes, you need to set those expectations lower. That is if you want to enjoy anime at all.

And that girl is certainly not broly and doesnt necessarily mean that broly is canon, it means that the legendary super saiyan exists.
