Dragon Ball Super 128 - Noble Pride to the End! Vegeta Falls!

I got to say, that was one enjoyable episode. I really couldn't find many things to complain about, though there where some things I was wanting to touch on.


1.) Vegeta's Pride and Promise

Seeing the flashbacks of Cabba and himself, the bond between student and teacher, was touching. I usually am not a fan of flashbacks (thank Naruto for that) but I feel that these were well placed and not stretched out.

Also seeing Vegeta getting emotional over losing to Jiren, or rather, not being able to keep his promise to his wife and child, was a nice change. I mean when was the last time we saw him shed a tear? Also his comment about Jiren being an "emotionless bastard who doesn't know what it means to fight to protect another" just shows how far he has come as a person, and I'm happy to see it.

2.) Goku reactivating Ultra Instinct

Let's be real, we at least thought this might happen. It maybe have been just a thought in the back of your mind, but it was still there. I mean this is Goku we are talking about. Am I mad about it? Absolutely not! I wasn't really sure what would happen up until the moment when Goku had his back against a wall (in this case the void) and had the faith of his comrades and their voices coming into his mind. Then Ultra Instinct kicks in and BOOM, the rest is history.

I mean look at that stagger! That was easily the best blow landed on Jiren, except for Android 17's blast, but his blast didn't make Jiren shake or grab his stomach! Any normal fodder would have died from that single punch, so Goku's definitely packing more heat than when he first attained it.

3.) Ultra Instinct mastered?

From some spoilers and random scans I saw, this seems to confirm mastered Ultra Instinct. What else could you call that glow?! This means that Goku has successfully figured out how to efficiently switch between attacking and defending. So I believe this debunks the argument of Vegeta having 'Offensive Ultra Instinct' over having Goku's 'Defensive Ultra Instinct' leaving it invalid. As far as I'm concerned, there is only one type of U.I., unless proven with scans or official statements.

This was overall a good episode, and to think we would have 2 back to back episodes of this quality!

Side note:
This was also the final episode that former Bulma VA Hiromi Tsuru voiced for. Very sad.

Gotta say mastered UI looks sick. The Goku wank is unreal though. Vegeta is fodder to Goku at this point. Hopefully the manga does a better job keeping them on the same plane.

The manga is moving fast. In the latest chapter, U7 has already eliminated 7 contestants.

I want to know whether the manga moves beyond the TOP considering Super ends next month.

Vegeta's motivation and drive felt more personal and had more emotion, Goku's was standard DB, one of my few complaints

I can see the manga going past the anime, and then the anime adapting the manga better (possibly), we won't know till probably next year or at least until the movie is done and released

Goku suddenly being able to stand up and transform from the minuscule amount of energy vegeta gave him kinda was kinda shitty, and Yet again going UI when he already had almost no energy left. Basically goku has infinite energy/stamina

I think it's actually insane how powerful UI is. Goku has only used the form after his stamina went to its minimum and twice a few minutes after the initial transformation. The technique is just busted to say its pretty much his weary base form but with more reaction. Imagine if Goku was to use the ability while fresh or combine it with a modifier like Super Saiyan.

Never felt much with the Vegeta moment. It never felt that impactful to me. Although I do get what they were trying to do. They were trying to make this a emotional scene with a man on his last leg brawling it out tooth and nail for his family. Similar to how Naruto vs Sasuke fight went when both characters ran out of power. They did a pure brawl with no beam moves. In the end it never came off well since we knew all Jiren had to do was punch Vegeta out. Since Vegeta's character officially got shitted on. It will be interesting to see how they will end Frieza's run.

Not to mention the gap between both their powers is huge at this point. Goku not only has UI but also Mastered UI and Vegeta is now a fodder to Goku and Jiren. The gap between Goku and Vegeta is now even bigger than in Z where Goku was SSJ 3 and Vegeta SSJ2. I dont like how weak they have made Vegeta in Super

I expect Frieza is only there to give U7 the win by numbers as I dont expect Goku will beat Jiren. It will be a tie
