In this thread i will try to establish two things, and these are:
- This battle had to be remade.
- This battle wasn't made to piss off Goku/DBZ/Anime fans, but rather to calm them down, and even please them.
First of all this battle had to be remade. Many say, that this death match was useless, and that no new arguments were made. After of all, if Superman is just going to win again, and ssj god Goku's full potential hasn't been revealed, then there is nothing new to consider.
However, all of this is wrong, as there are various reasons, because of which this rematch was made.
- It has been hugely requested by Goku fans.
- It will make Screwattack more famous.
- It will finish this debate once and for all. No, not only for now, but forever. (Obviously didn't work though...)
Let me give you a quote from the video: "Sure due to the writing style of Dragon Ball, Goku's exact limits are difficult to pinpoint. Also Goku will likely achieve a new form in the future, it is just how Dragon Ball works nowadays. However, none of that is really a factor." link to the quote: (
As you can clearly see from the bolded parts, their argument is, that even in the future Goku will be weaker. Consequently, arguments like: we have still not seen Goku's full strength are invalid.
This gets me to the second part of this post. This death match shouldn't have pissed off DBZ fans so much. In all Deathmatch videos we have three components. These are character analysis, the fight itself, and the explanation of the final result.
Character analysis: Both characters are presented positively, and in a right way, something which Screwattack usually does. However, this time there were some huge differences. When analyzing the back story of both characters, Screwattack presented, the origin of the characters stories, their meaning, how they affected the world, and the abilities analysis, only scratched the surface this time, when usually they would be the main focus. This is done so, because they want to show respect to both series, and their accomplishments, and not just take a brief look at the characters. There was also a bonus part, where the ight itself was discussed, furthershowin, that they're taking this fight seriously.
The fight: The fight had possibly the best animation, Screwattack ever made which thankfully most people appreciate. However, something that people forget, is that this animation is only for entertainment purposes, and only the final result in it matters. This does indeed mean, that Goku was ony able to punch around Superman, becuse of fan service. In fact, the fight starts with Goku beating the shit out of Superman. What most people are pissed off is, because Superman walked through Goku's kamehameha. I won't try arguing whether or not, it would do any damage, this scene wasn't made to make Goku look bad, but rather to simply show how much superios Superman is, and there is no better way to do this, that having Superman easily take Gou's strongest attack. Now lets look at the way Goku dies. Superman kills Goku in a really peaceful way. He tells Goku sorry, and the death ha 0 gore or blood, and overall just minimal damage. The sorry, is Screwattack apologizing to the fans for Goku's loss, but in the end our beloved Saiyan is simply weaker. Superman catching Goku also shows, how Screwattack does care about the fans, and that they didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
Explanation: The explanation brings in new evidence, tat Superman's potential is limitless, while whatever Goku achieves, his potential will always have its limit. This should hae been self explanatory, but somehow Goku fans still argue, that since Goku's full power hasn't been shown, this death math shouldn't have been made. :| Many people also claim that Superman's character is boring, when they actually don't know anything bout him. This is simply silly, as it seem that some people believe, that unless the story is about a hero who gets progressively stronger, then it is shit. in their video Screwattack praised Goku, and stated that he is a good character, and even if yo say, that they do this only to please fans, then well, wasn't this the purpose of the video in the first place?
Finally i just wanted state how disappointed i am in the dragon ball fanbase. This can be seen by the 70 thousand+ dislikes on Screwattacks video, and also by other popular youtubers, like Forneverworld, and Shikas clouds, who only make matter worse. This just furthermore shows how this rematch was needed, since many fanboys still blindly disagree with the outcome. Why is Goku vs Superman Screwatack's most popular video, and why is it the most disliked? This just shows, that Dragon Ball fans are too emotional, and should understand, that in Deathbattle there can be only one winner, and no, Superman's character being "boring" has nothing to do with this battle (not to forget that millions of people love him), so don't us this as an excuse.
