[Debate] Double standards

Okay

When people are asked if they would kill someone to save 10 people they would do it, sometimes without no hesitation

but

If they was asked to kill themselves to save 10 people they will think about it and worry but they wouldn't care about the person they had to kill.

my question is why do you think this is or the reason behind it

Doesn't the person you had to kill have much to live for just as you.

Doesn't the person you had to kill have much to live for just as you.

Because, no matter how much you care for a person you will always value your life over theirs, which is were the hesitation comes from. But in any case if it were your child or extreme loved one you would give your life for them because they made you who you are and gave you happiness, which in some cases is worth life itself.

Overall i guess you only give your life for the greater good but there will always be hesitation because of how much a person value their own world.

It is an instinct to survive.If I had to kill one bloke to save 10 family members/friends etc I would cap/stab the ****er before I heard the whole sentence.But if I had to kill one family member/friend etc to save 10 blokes I don't know,**** 'em.I don't care about them.

That kinda answers the second question too.You yourself are a member of your own family so why harm yourself.Humans don't have the instinct to self harm by default.Plus selfishness.

Is what you described really a double standard? I think it's more of a person's fear of death. Or maybe even unwillingness to sacrifice themselves for others.
