Maybe because they'll go blind after the clones disappear because 10 Clones plus you using the technique means 10x the strain when they disappear.

I don't think we've seen a clone of anyone use a mangekyo sharingan technique except susanoo which we all have our doubts about being an eye technique after its unlocked since Madara used it eyeless.

This - I agree.

Simply, the mental strain of the doppelgangers are shared with the caster, in this case, Obito. Also, the casters chakra is divided among the doppelgangers which depletes too much chakra.
