Alright, let's start off by you telling me everything you know about the earth element?

Doton is one of the five basic elements. The defining traits of doton chakra is that it is heavy and stubborn. It is the main affinity of the Iwagakure ninja and it is mainly used for mid range jutsu effecting the ground I think... It is strong to suiton since earth absorbs water. It is weak to raiton since when you hit a rock with a stun gun the rock is completely sliced in half or if you run electricity through any type of explosives it safely disarms them. Common elemental combination attacks involve use with katon to make flaming mud balls. It can be combined with other elements to create the kkg and stuff like lava, dust maybe, steel, and blast release. Notable users are Oonoki, muu, Ino, Hiruzen and Jiraiya.

Like you said, earth is a very durable and strong element, although it is still very malleable and easily manipulated into various forms and constructs to help you in battle. Now earth chakra itself, is simply making your chakra more denser and solid. You can use earth to alter the enviorment, or create it from your own body. Earth chakra can be manipulated in several different forms, like a viscous mud, hard rock structures, or an almost loose sand like material or gravel. It's extremely versatile, you can use it to alter the terrain, and make it so that structures and plateaus rise or fall, and to alter the enviorment to give yourself an edge. It can be used defensively, offensively, and as a supplementary element altogether, because it is so so versatile. It's weak to lightning, because lightning can easily break it apart, and strong to water since it can easily absorb and stop the water. It's primarily used by those originating from Iwagakure, and is involved in the creation of the Steel and Lava release elements. Earth is strong, and slow moving, so it makes sound when emerging. Thus, you can use this to deduce if your opponent uses an earth release technique to attack you from behind or an angle you can't see. In addition, you'll often be able to hear and feel the ground itself changing form, giving you ample time to react and defend yourself.

In most cases you have to be touching the ground. Some jutsu which you emit directly from your body (like the mud shot jutsu) dont require ground contact. Also, some jutsu like swamp of the underworld dont require you to be touching the ground to perform because they were seen being performed from mid air in the anime, manga, or game, and even that's debatable. In 90%+ cases however, it requires ground contact. To be safe however, you should always try to make sure you're on the ground before trying an earth jutsu.

This justsu is so nice. I really really like it. You concentrate earth chakra into the ground, and use it to create tools, pillars, shields, weapons, etc. You can use it to create earth shuriken to throw at your opponent to injure them, etc. Now, perform it and tell me a supplementary use for this jutsu which doesent directly harm the opponent.

Hidan uses the power from his spirit and from his physical body to focus and gather chakra. Hidan reviews in his mind the feeling of earth, boring and durable like a rock. He uses the will of his whole being to give his chakra these attributes of earth in order to mold doton chakra. After that, Hidan uses his focus and will to move the chakra down into the earth. With the katon chakra gathered down in the ground, he uses it to form the earth to create a hammer made of rock to rise up from the ground and hop up into the air for Hidan to catch it. Hidan if course, is unable to get a hold of it and the hammer falls back down into Hidan's toe.
I'd use this to make a pillar that launches the opponent into the air or that rises up right in front of their face or one that launches myself up into the air.

The first jutsu is an extension of the basic d rank earth technique, and can be done using it. Just use earth techniques to cause the earth to form into a cane, and rise into your hand. You can use it for jutsu which require a staff as well. It won't kill or anything, but it can cause bruising perhaps or maybe broken bones.
The second technique requires you to concentrate chakra. Cause several small stones to rise up, around your arm. Then, fling them all at the opponent with your chakra.

this is a bit like the smaller version of the mountain crush jutsu. make the two handseals, and focus your earth chakra into the ground to the left and right of the opponent. cause those two sections of rock to rapidly spin around the opponent before finally slamming together and crushing the opponent in between them. the jutsu is pretty nice as a distraction, since its process is so long you can also use ninja tools to attack while the opponent tries to counter.

Kazuma makes the rat hand seal and focuses on gathering chakra. Kazuma thinks about the feeling of earth. He molds his chakra to be stubborn and durable like rock to create doton chakra. Kazuma sends the chakra down into the ground. He uses the chakra to manipulate several sections of earth to revolve around some guy until suddenly manipulating the rocks into two separate sections of earth which smash together with the stranger caught in between.

Ok, so firstly focus your earth chakra into the ground below you. Make it so that it becomes a very fine, sand like material. It should be soft and easy to dig through. On e that is done, use your earth chakra. Burrow through the grounds at a high speed, whilst also making sure to sense what is going on above ground. Now tell me, if someone were to emerge directly behind you about a meter away, how would you detect them? Then, once you emerge from the earth, focus earth based chakra into the ground and cause spikes of earth to emerge and impale the opponent.

Wan sends his chakra down into the earth underneath himself through his feet. With his chakra he uses it to change the form on the dirt into sand which allows Wan to seep down into the ground where he changes more of the dirt into sand to dig farther while at the same time reforming the soil behind himself to make the dirt the same as it was before. While underground Wan spread out his chakra into all the surrounding earth in order to sense what was going on on the surface. Wan continues to dig for a short time before going up and returning to the surface.
