As you said, earth release is also known as doton. It's one of the 5 elements. It can be manipulated for offense and defense. Most earth jutsus use rocks, dirt, or mud from the ground, or create from inside their own body. Using earth chakra a person is able to change the earth's hardness or softness, which can allow the user to travel underground like with hiding like a mole technique. Earth jutsu is weak against lightning jutsu because it can easily break it and flows through it easily. Its strong against water because it can absorb some of the water from a jutsu. It can be used in conjunction with fire to create a lava. Earth and fire create the KG Lava release, and Earth Water create Wood release. Dust release is a KT made from earth release
Great, you know the fundamentals. ^^ Now we'll start the first jutsu. I want you to get a strong mental image of the essence of earth (a description of earth's characteristics) and convert your chakra to the earth nature. Then send a small amount of chakra into the ground and manipulate it to raise three small pillars from the ground, each with a different shape.

*I concentrate my chakra into the ground, then start compressing it together, making it harder, and copy the texture of the earth, forming it to replicate the earth. I then take my chakra create 3 rock pillars, which I force from uner the ground, 1 having a round end, one being a regular spike, and the last one having a square end*

*Using my Earth Chakra, I soften the ground beneath me, making it easier to dig through, then dig furiously underground until Im beneath you. I then reach through the ground and grab your leg, yank you underground with me and leave only your head above ground. I then come up from the ground and grin evilly*

* I look around for a piece of rock and find one not far away from me. I pick it up, then channel my doton chakra into and change the shape of it, lengthening it and turning it into a rock staff. I then take aim at your clone and throw it straight as his head, hitting him and poofing him*
Good, good. You could create more than one staff at a time but if you throw them simultaneously there is a chance some of them would miss. For the next jutsu you must form the Rat handseal and make several rock sections rise out of the ground. Then control them to form two larger sections you make come together and crush whatever is between them. There are many wooden practice dummies scattered around for you to use. Try it on one of them.

*I find one of the wooden dummies standing lifelessly, and focus on him. I perform the rat handseal and charge my doton chakra into the ground around him. I then manipulate it and cause several large pieces on both sides of him rise up. I then make the pieces from 2 giant pieces then force them to come together and crush him inbetween the rocks, leaving nothing but little pieces of smashed wood of him*
Well done. Now we'll start sets consisting of three jutsu. Don't try to rush your descriptions or you might screw up. This first one is one of the most useful earth jutsu. You will need to continually release doton chakra from your body, transforming the ground you are touchning into fine sand that will be easy to dig through swiftly. Not only that, while you are underground you should be able to sense your location and people on the surface through the magnetic fields. Now enter the ground and emerge 20 meters from where you started.

While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth.
Next, simply point your arm at your target and send doton shakra beneath him you will use to manipulate the ground, creating about 3 long rock spikes to impale him. Try it on a dummy around here.

*I focus doton chakra into the ground, turning the ground underneath my into fine, easy to dig through sand. I then start digging underground, trying to reach my destination. Using magenetic waves, I sense you digging your nose, which is gross. I pop out 20 meters away from where I was*

lol the sensing isn't quite that precise. It's just the position on the ground.

I then shoot the mud blob onto the clone with the suit and tie on, who probably had plans tonight. The blob sticks to his face and starts to sufocate him.*
* Looking at the cave you created with said earth jutsu, I focus my doton chakra into the top of the cave. I then start to loosen the rocks from the roof of the cave, causing the whole thing to collapse*
*I perform the tiger handseal, then start to channel earth chakra underneath another clone, turning the earth underneath him into mud. I then give the small mud-river a current, pushing it against him and pushing him off balance*

Great. Now perform the Ram, Horse, and Dragon handseals before manipulating the mud you created into the shape of a dragon's head. Then have it gather mud and condense it into several balls within its mouth that you will shoot at the clone you carried away. Finish him!
