Okay, so firstly, before we continue, why did you want to learn Earth?

I would like to learn Earth because it is, IMO, the most important element in battle since it is invaluable to have the ability to manipulate your surroundings (battles can also take place on water and in the air but the majority are on land). Additionally, earth, has various defensive aspects that I would love to implement in my battles.

Excellent. Let's focus on the phrase you said, manipulate your surroundings. Basically, Earth is extremely versatile, the most versatile of all the elements, in my opinion.
Creativity here, is your limit. Your own mind, to be more specific.
It's important, as an RPer, also, to enjoy and explore options, not just OHKO people or be OP.

Anyways, enough of that.
What are the weaknesses and advantages of Earth and how might you utilize them?

Ok, I know this is probably not what you are looking for but I 'll start by saying that earth is weak to lightning release and wood release but is strong against water release.

Advantages -

Defensively, earth release can be used to create walls and shields. It is also commonly used to create pillars move the user out of the way of attacks.

Offensively, earth release can be used to create spikes and knock your opponent off balance. Additionally, earth release can be used to create structures (like a cage) and swamps.​

Disadvantages -

Earth release is basically unusable when fighting in the air or on water. Also, it is really easy for lightning release attacks to break through defenses. Additionally, some jutsus require the user to be touching the ground to activate them.​

o_o Wow, I have literally nothing to add to your post, and on another note, excellent job bringing up Wood as well!

You are completely correct, to use Earth requires you to be touching it almost at all times, but at the same time, preventing opponents from using Earth is also a very important factor in battle. I'll teach you more about that later.
Now, take this rock and get a good feel for it by running your chakra through it.
Tell me how you think Earth chakra might feel.

Anyway, I think that earth release chakra would be very strong, not as malleable as water release chakra or wind release chakra but still mold-able, kind of like clay.

Perfect! There's your keyword there, mold-able, like clay. ^_^
So keep your hand upon the rock, and I want you to focus your chakra through it to create anything you wish.

*I focus on molding my doton chakra. I channel my chakra into the ground in front of me and I try to mold a sword of earth.*

Sorry sensei, I'll do better this time.

*I start molding my doton chakra. I channel it into the ground and start to mold the Earth. I close my eyes and concentrate on the mental image of my dog (you did say anything and she was the first thing that came to mind). I start at the bottom, she has her small paws and thin legs. I mold the chakra into the shape of her legs, with a curly fur coat, and get up to her skinny body. Starting with neck I mold the chakra of her boddy and work my way back to her short tail, which is pointing up as usual. I come back to her neck and work on her head. I envision her lamb-like face and mold the doton chakra in her likeness. I open my eyes hoping to see a detailed statue of my dog Baci but expecting to see a deformed mess that in no way resembles a dog.*

Okay, so this is the very basics of basics. Just keep in mind that you can be creative with this jutsu and do anything you need, like launch a pillar from the ground, create staffs, etc.

*I begin molding my doton chakra and focus it into my hands. I slam my hands into the ground and channel the doton chakra into the ground in front of me. Then I manipulate it, in a manner similiar to manipulating clay, to create a wall of earth (about 2 meters wide and 4 meters tall) in front of me.*

This wall could defend from suiton based attacks of 1 rank greater than this jutsu (particularly a suiton jutsu that fires a stream of water at me). The wall could also block futon, katon, and other doton jutsus of equal rank or lower that fire a projectile at me. Addtionally this jutsu is eaily able to block to shurikan and kunai. However, this jutsu is unable to block most raton jutsus.

Excellent response. Also, keep in mind to be specific on the size of this jutsu, as it can potentially hide you behind it as well. What might be the purpose of this?

The purpose of hiding yourself is so that you can move around which keeps your opponent from being able to target your location.

I wasn't sure what you were looking for.

Well, when you use this jutsu, naturally, you'd be hiding yourself from the enemy and obscuring yourself from their field of vision. But yeah, you did state a good way to take advantage of such a fact.

(Doton: Doroku Gaeshi) - Earth Release: Earth Shore Return

Description: After striking the ground with their hands, the user creates a large wall of earth in front of him/her. The defence is not perfect though, since a hard or drilling impact can puncture the wall. Also, since this technique only guards frontal attacks, the enemy can easily attack from the side or even from above.

So this jutsu is somewhat similar to one you may have learned before.
In what ways can a huge mudslide be used for?

A mudslide can be used to knock your opponent off balance, limit movement on the field (by making it muddy of course lol) and if you use it on rocks above your opponent, it could be a devastating attack.

Well done...and well, if you increase the capability of this jutsu with Suiton, then you can also..."ride" on it with a surfboard. Haha.

Description: This technique lets the user summon a river of mud infront of them. This technique can have water added to it to speed up the flow and increase its power.

For this next one, first use the handseals of Boar to Ox, then proceed to slam the ground with your hand, sending Doton chakra through it towards my clone.
Then, manipulate the Earth around my clone to spiral in itself...like quicksand almost, and then kill my clone as it does so.
