Finally arriving in the training grounds I feel a wave of excitement as I meet my new student. This time around I shall be teaching them the Earth Element. The last element that I myself had completed training in not so long ago. Not so far off in the distance I see a shaggy haired individual who I can only assume is my student. Coming up from behind I stop five meters from him and make my presence known. "Hello! I'll be instructing you in Earth today. Before we begin, may I ask for your name?" I ask with a smile.

"I am Jugram of the Uchiha clan." I say as I remove my cloak and gently place it on the ground. "So, as I said Satoshi I'll be instructing you in the Earth Element. Now, before we begin learning about specific earth techniques I'll want to tell you about how our training is going to work. This training will be done through good discussion of both the basics behind chakra, earth chakra, and earth techniques. Earth is probably one of the most versatile and useful elements of the basic 5 and as such it is important to analyze it fully and pick apart the mechanics behind it. Think of this as an investment when you'll be creating your own techniques for your arsenal. Now, I always encourage you to ask questions about anything whether they be basic or complex. And of course be detailed and put effort into the training. And use your imagination. Even if it feels risky what you're about to do with a technique or an answer to a question do it anyway. Being wrong isn't bad! Now, with that out of the way, do you have any questions?"

"Very good. So, before we begin the techniques lets have a review of the basics. Remember details count here and I want you to be as detailed as you know. You don't have to know everything but try to show effort. And of course ask questions whenever you need to. I want you to explain to me what ninja are, what chakra is, what nature transformation and shape manipulation are, and what exactly is the Earth Element. Tell me everything you know."

I would would inhale deeply then uttered out a long elaborate speech on doton.

First off, Ninjas....ninjas are basically the military force of a nation. Ninja are also refereed to as shinobi. Shonobis vary in rank depending on their skill level and effectiveness. Shinobi use chakra, a spiritual and physical mixture, to perform various techniques. These techniques are mostly made up of the 5 basic elements, Earth, Wind, Fire, Wind, and Lightning. Dfferent combinations amongst the 5 area recognized as special traits, also known as "Kekkei Gekai, Tota, or Morra. "Skilled users can form elemental chakra into certain objects pertaining to their element, for example if I plan on using doton based chakra to make spikes out of the earth, I would have to think of realistic boundaries for my jutsu. I wouldnt be able to make a mountain form in the middle of the ocean... ( or could I? Lol). With that being said, the earth element is chakra infused with the earth elemental affinity to be able to create and manipulate Earth and everything that has to do with it including, rocks , the ground, canyons, etc, . Doton is strong against water (Suiton) since it naturally absorbs water. Doton is weak against Raiton( lightning) since lightning can soften the earth and basically trash it.

Alright so lets start off discussing all of these various topics and digging deeper into them. Lets start off with chakra. You mentioned that chakra is a mixture of the physical and spiritual. What can you tell me about what exactly is this physical and spiritual 'ingredients' to chakra? Additionally, tell me what you know about the chakra circulatory system.

the "spiritual " part comes from the mind and the "physical" part comes from all of your cells in your body. When combined they for what we know as chakra. Chakra flows through the chakra circulatory system aka the chakra network. The chakra network has numerous points (361 to be exact) , scattered around our bodies. From those points we can release any given amount of chakra , whether its just regular chakra or elemental.

"Alright, very good! Along that very chakra network are also 8 special tenketsu which are the regulators for the Eight Inner Gates. Now, lets get into chakra itself. As you explained you said chakra is the mixture of the physical energy of the body and the spiritual energy of the mind and soul. That chakra is considered raw, untouched chakra. It has no specific element. So to get that element we apply nature transformation to it. So, in our case we will be applying nature transformation to our raw chakra to create Doton chakra allowing us to use Earth Release. So when you think of doton chakra what do you think of? How do you think we use this nature transformation to create our doton chakra?"

"Very good. Earth Release is usually a good to compare to strength, unmoving stone, and iron will and what not. All those things are what you'd think of when you want to create your doton chakra. So, lets move on and talk more about what makes up the earth element. Tell me what you know about the element in terms of specifics. What can it manipulate? What forms does it come in? How does one normally perform earth techniques? Earth is perhaps one of the most versatile elements giving the user numerous options in combat so be detailed here."

Not only can it soften earth but you can also increase the density of the earth, as long as you have the chakra and skill to do so . This is why doton is one of the most versatile elements of the basic 5. Doton can come in other forms like gravel, dirt, clay,rocks, or mud. Usually , earth based jutsu are performed with the use of the "snake" seal. Others can be done by stomping, slamming your hands against the ground or just simply being in contact with it. Proficient users can also form solid rock just from their elemental chakra, no earth contact needed. Allow me to demonstrate.

"Good work. Indeed the earth element is quite versatile. Building on your points about density the earth element is even capable of changing the weight of objects and people! This is done through higher ranked techniques (A-Rank/S-Rank) and can be quite versatile in themselves offering huge bonuses with numerous uses. Now most earth elemental techniques do require you to be in contact with the earth to perform them. There are many that cannot be done while you're high in the air for example. Now lets talk a bit about earth's interaction with other elements. As you said earlier you correctly noted that earth is weak to lightning and strong to water. This is because the earth can be torn apart by lightning and earth itself contains water meaning water has a harder time destroying the earth. Now I have a few questions for you. Be creative here. I want you to think outside the box a bit. What do you think happens when earth is struck by water and the water overpowers the earth? What do you think happens when earth is struck by lightning and the earth is destroyed by lightning? What do you think happens when you combine earth and fire? Mud and fire? These are all elemental interactions. I want you to think about them a bit. As while every element has strengths and weaknesses their actual physical interactions still play a role."

Usually from my experiences, when earth is overpowered by water, the water whethers down the earth by taking pieces of the earth with it each time the two come in contact.

Hmm ..? I guess that whenever the lightning flows through earth, since earth is already weak to lightning but also since earth also contains water in it , the extremely hot and fast tendrils of lightning would hardern the earth instead of crumbling it. ? Lol idk just a wild guess.

Umm..when fire and mud get together ..the fire melts the rock and turns it into lava? And since mud is basically water+ whethered earth when you add fire, it should evaporated all water leaving nothing but dirt?

Well, you're not entirely wrong about the interaction with water. But that takes time. In the case of the RP when earth becomes oversaturated with water it usually turns to mud which is another form of earth. Also, when you strike earth with water you create a new combination where the earth is being moved by the water which in most cases increases the blunt damage of the water. If that makes sense. So instead of being hit by just water you're being hit by an earth/water combination. This also means it is dangerous to use lightning since water is a natural conductor of earth.

Well, in the case of an earth/lightning interaction in most cases lightning will blow up and destroy earth. So what that results in is sharp earthen debris flying around in that area (depending on size and shape of the lightning technique). This can result in something quite dangerous for either the opponent or the user so it is quite important to keep this in mind when striking earth with lightning. The debris themselves can become weapons.

Now, in regards to fire and earth. Lets first talk about solid earth instead of mud. Fire and earth will create flaming earth basically. You ignite the earth creating an earth/fire combination that is quite dangerous. Normally fire release doesn't carry any solid properties to it. There are some fire techniques that do have a physical nature (meaning they can smash and break through objects) but most fire releases are simply just fire. Now an earth/fire combination allows you to overcome that potential disadvantage. It creates heated earth which carries durability and physical form meaning it can break, smash, crush, etc. On top of that you heat it allowing it to burn through defenses and inflict its own kind of damage. Now, with mud. Most mud in the RP is flammable. If you recall the fight between Hiruzen and Orochimaru in Part 1 Hiruzen used the Earth Bullet technique to create mud bullets from a river of mud. So then he used a fire technique to ignite the mud. Basically he created his own earth/fire combination to attack Orochimaru with.

So if you were to forget everything I said above and take away one single thing I would hope it would be this. Think about the physics revolving around these elements. Think about how they interact with one another in a normal sense. That will open up numerous of combinations you can create that can be extremely creative.

When you're describing your performance of the technique use detail. And then we'll discuss it. Read descriptions carefully. Even the simplest techniques can be used most creatively! Okay so the first technique is extremely versatile in its applications. It is an all purpose earth technique. You shouldn't underestimate this technique either as it can do virtually anything within reason of the technique itself. Perform the technique and then we'll discuss it. For this technique I simply want you to create a pillar to throw you up into the air."
