So then, what can you tell me about Doton? What are its properties? Its strength and weaknesses?

doton is one of five chakra natures in naruto. earth release is strong against water because it absorbs the water and transform it to mud it can also prevent the flow of water by being used as a dam. doton is weak against raiton because raiton can travel through earth, breaking it up. earth is one of the most versatile of the five elements because it can be used as a solid attack and solid defence.

some doton users are: Kakashi Hatake, Hiruzen Sarutobi and Yamato.

Alright *points at a rock*

Go upon that rock and sit on top of it, cross your legs and close your eyes, lay your hands on your lap. Breathe in slowly, and begin to meditate. Flow your chakra from throughout your body, and into the stone, feel the hard rock solid structure of it, feel the rigid texture that it carries, and begin to understand with it. Tell me, how do you feel?

I first feel the hard rock beneath me and as i continue to meditate and flow my chakra to the rock i feel like the rock is a part of me and the it feels comfortable.

That's rather interesting. Rocks are associated with heaviness, dirtiness, roughness and sheer brutality. Your answer intrigues me, what is it that makes you feel comfortable feeling one with the rock?

alright lets try that again:

When i feel my chakra flow through me to the rock while meditating i feel like im one with it and i kinda feel cold and hard. i feel some dirt on my pants and my shoes are gettin a bit muddy. *i guess this is how Earth feels.

For now, since you have meditated and found your Earth chakra, get off the rock and come next to me. I get down from the rock and then i get on my knees and put my hands on the ground. i gather my recently found earthchakra and focus on my handpalms. When i have a good amount of chakra there i release it to the ground and in my mind i focus and force two small pillars to rise.

*Crouches down and analyses the pillars* Hummm, they seem to be quite fragile, let's see...

*Touches the right pillar, where upon it breaks apart forming rubble that spreads across the ground*

Once again i get on my knees while gathering my chakra. then i put my palms on the earth. i begin manipulating the ckarkra, transformin it to Dotonch. then i concentrate on my hands this time with more chakra and power. When i feel that i have the right amount of chakra there i release it to the ground, causing two small pillars of earth to rise.

*Puts one palm onto the ground and raises an Earth pillar, just like you did. However, after doing so, my pillar begins to soften, almost like it is melting. You can see that the pillar is gradually becoming smaller, and then it begins to shape itself, changing itself into the shape of a sword.*

What I did right there, is basic manipulation of the texture of the Earth. You see, by supplying more chakra into the pillar, you are able to even change its form, its shape, all based upon your will. You can even change the weight, but that requires a jutsu we will go through later on. Right now, I want you to copy what I just did. Supply some more chakra into the Earth pillars you just created, and in doing so, soften the Earths structure, almost so that it's like a jelly. Then, by using basic shape manipulation, change the shapes of your pillars. Forming the one in your right hand into a sword, and the one in your left hand into a shield. Describe how you do each one individually, for example the large surface area that a shield has, and the sharp edge a sword has.

i begin by gathering my doton chakra, concentrating on my palms. when i have the chakra there i place my hads on one of the pillars i created and this time by releasing more chakra to the earth i manipulate it, making the earth soft and jellylike. i begin shaping the pillar sharpening the edges and molding the bottom of the pillar creating a handle and continueing to sharpen the edges. when im finished i grab the sword, swinging it a few times and then i give it to you. then i bend down again placing my palms on the other pillar while gathering my chakra. when i feel that i have the right amount of chakra i release it to the pillar, softening it like jelly. then i manipulate the shape and begin molding it, creating a great surface area. i create a handle in the middle of the shield and when its finished i grab the handle and lift the shield. i then give it to you so that you can inspect the items.

(Doton No Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique

Descripton: Creates small pillars of earth, small tools, and small shields of earth

What we did here is merely just a fragment of the Earth's manipulation, this is an extremely versatile jutsu because it allows so many actions to occur. You can use this as shields, you can make weapons just like we did, you can use the pillar itself to hurl the opponent in the air, or even strike onto him. Always remember what I told you, the Earth is your friend, but enough about that, since I will test you later on.

For now, we will skip the next jutsu according to the list, since it is part of a combo that involves a C-rank, and we will go back to it later. For now, I want you to re-perform what you just did, however to a greater extent. *Throws you a rock* Catch it, and send your Earth chakra into it. What you did with the pillars was to make them smaller, take chunks off in order to fulfill the shapes you wanted, but this time it will be harder. I want you to change the shape of the rock into that of a staff, it must be long and not-so thick, with a spear at the tip, make sure to keep the staff's form, do not let it crumble away as you stretch the thick rock.

*Raises an Earth pillar with a dot in the middle facing you a few meters away* And once you're done with making the spear, using careful timing and precise accuracy, strike the dot in the middle of the pillar with your spear.

I catch the rock while gathering my chakra. when i have the right amount i begin molding the roch and stretch the rock, shaping it like a spear. when im finished i begin sharpening the edge on the top of the spear, carefully so it doesnt get to thick or to thin. when ive sharpened it enough i grab the spear and look at it from a few diffrent angels. its a little to short and thick so i strech the bottom a little bit more. when im done i aim carefully and when i have the dot locked on i throw the spear with force towards the dot.

Either way, the next jutsu will be our first C-rank, and is one of my favorite Earth jutsus. *Performs a single hand sign* Repeat the hand sign I just showed you, whilst channeling your Earth chakra throughout your body and into the ground. In doing so, cause two gigantic walls of rock to raise around your opponent. The walls are reflected of each other, meaning they can either be formed to your opponent's front and back, or both sides. And once done doing that, use your chakra to cause the wall to come together, and your opponent will be caught in that movement, being crushed.

*Summons a clone that begins running into many directions, changing them in quick manners*

The real killer in this jutsu, is being able to time your movement, and make sure when to exactly raise the Earth, since my clone is running around, you have to time yourself to exactly catch him off guard. This can be done by manipulating small forms of rock, just like you are supposed to do with the two ''big'' walls, raise some small walls that will just make his feet stumble, unbalancing him where the main attack will come into place.

i begin gathering my chakra and using chakramanipulation i begin molding my chakra, transforming it to doton. as i see the clone run around i analyze its movements and directions. the clone begins running to the left and before his left foot touch the ground i make a small pillar rise beneath his right foot causing him to lose his balance and fall forward. after that i quicly perform the handseal sensei showed me and make two great walls rise from the ground infront and behind senseis clone. the clone hits the wall and right after that i cause the walls to collapse, crushing the clone.

Now let's move onto our first combo Stand firm and still on the ground above you. Then, begin to slowly concentrate on your Earth chakra, channeling throughout your entire body and into the ground beneath you. As you've done that, close your eyes and imagine the dense structure that Earth carries, now imagine that structure breaking apart, into loose grains, and whilst your imagining, begin to use your Earth chakra to copy the image in your head, on the ground you're standing on, turning it into loose grains of sand that allows you to sink in, forming a small hole which your body goes into, successfully going into the ground, and as you do, the hole closes upon itself, leaving no trace of your existence.

Whilst being underground, you are capable of sensing whatever is above the ground, by pressure. Meaning when a foot steps onto the ground, you can feel it and know what is above yourself, so following onto that *makes a clone that runs around* keep a check, make sure to figure out where he is. Then, taking him by surprise, perform a sneak attack. At the exact moment you want to attack, remake a hole in the ground, by turning it into loose grains of sand again, jump out of the hole with massive power and grab onto your opponent. As you grab him, pull yourself up whilst pulling him down, making you get out of the hole standing above ground, and trapping him inside the hole. Binding him to his place, with only his head sticking out.

I begin by gathering my chakra, then i manipulate it, transforming it to doton. when i have the right amount i channel my chakra from my body and in to the ground im standing on. in my mind i concentrate, picturing the hard earth breakin and turning to soft and smooth sand. i then, using my doton chakra copy the image in my mind and begin turning the ground to loose sandgrains allowing me to sink in trough a hole. when my body is underearth the hole closes and i can sense everything going on ontop of the earth. suddenly i feel annother pair of feets as sensei creates a clone that begins to move around. i follow the clone from underground and then i hurry up infront of it and just as it takes a step with the left foot i grab it with my hand. then i pull it down with all my strength as i drag myself up. i leave the clone with only the head sticking up from the ground.

(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique

Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth. While inside the earth, the user cannot make handseals and can only use Earth techniques below C-Rank. If he tries to do a higher ranked technique, he'll disrupt the Hiding like a mole technique and be left crushed.

(Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique

Description: The user, emerging from the ground below the target area, pulls down the opponent so that only their head is above ground. Unable to move, the opponent can easily be decapitated or tortured.

Let's slow the pace down a bit and finish that last D-rank, what I want you to do is concentrate on your Doton chakra, channelling it towards your more dominant arm; and from there try to use shape manipulation so that rocks will physically grow on your arm. We have tackled using the ground as a source before and this method is a bit different, make rocks grow around your arm so they act as simple rings that cover said arm. Then, by pointing at your opponent in a cool-looking fashion, send each of these rings to be flung forwards from your arm and towards your opponent, crushing him upon impact.
