Well without referring to a source....

Doton is the result of manipulating your chakra to take on an elemental form of earth. It is a very hard substance and is often times used for defense. It is strong against water since it can soak it up and is weak against lightning. Known users would be...I can't really think of any outstanding Doton users besides Yamato and Tobi. That is only because Yamato knows Mokuton and Tobi because of his Whack-A-Mole Jutsu and his ability to travel through the ground like Zetsu.

Only jutsu I can come up with at the top of my head is Doton no Jutsu and Doton: Bunshin no Jutsu.

Earth release can also be combined with fire release to create the kekkai genkai Lava release, however you can immitate lava on a smaller degree with earth and fire creating molten rock though a sufficent higher ranked fire technique can turn earth into lava.

now then we are going to make you control your earth elemental chakra so first sit down in the lotus meditation position and close your eyes. i want you to concentrate your chakra and then place your hand on the ground above a rock. Then by manipulating your chakra i want you to try and forcibly remove the rock from the ground and create a small pillar of earth.

I begin to concentrate the chakra inside me

Okays this first technique will require you to control nearby stone and rock that is located generally in a form of cave and then manipulating your chakra i want you to loosen the rocks in the ceiling of the cave i will create and make the rubble fall onto my clone and trapping him inside.

Now this next technique requires you to perform the required hand seals Rat → Horse → Dog → Snake and then manipulating the earth by releasing your chakra into the ground and causing a moderate amount of rock pillars to rise up from the ground and surround my shadow clone binding his movements.

Description: After striking the ground with their hands, the user creates a large wall of earth in front of him/her. The defence is not perfect though, since a hard or drilling impact can puncture the wall. Also, since this technique only guards frontal attacks, the enemy can easily attack from the side or even from above.

For this final technique i want you to concentrate your chakra and then just slam the ground with your hands and then releasing it into the ground, create a square wall of earth to rise up from the surface and create a defensive barrier infront of you.

Description: This technique allows the ninja to control nearby stone and rock. This can be especially useful if in a cave or a stone lodging. The technique can loosen the rocks and cause them to come raining down on whomever is trapped inside.

Okays this first technique will require you to control nearby stone and rock that is located generally in a form of cave and then manipulating your chakra i want you to loosen the rocks in the ceiling of the cave i will create and make the rubble fall onto my clone and trapping him inside.

*creates a shadow clone who uses Earth Release: Earth Corridor to create a cavern to rise up around him with the entrance facing you*

I begin to focus and block out all distraction. I close my eyes and begin to feel the earth around me, slowly getting closer to your clone. I can feel the dome surrounding your clone and feel the vibrations that his movements are making as he steps on the ground below him. I begin to combine my flow with the earth around the dome and begin to move the loose rocks in the ceiling. I don't want to surprise him just yet so I begin to search for all the loose stones. I exert a little more chakra into the ground towards the cave. There! I dislodge all the stones in the ceiling and force them out towards your clone as if they were spikes. The missing stones cause the cave to crumble and collapse on your clone.

The next technique i want you to perform the tiger hand seal and by concentrating your chakra release it into the ground to manipulate it and create a river of mud underneath my shadow clone causing him to be carried away off balance and then directly follow up with the following technique:

I concentrate on my chakra and build it up inside me at which time I perform the tiger handseal. I force my chakra into the ground heading towards your clone. As the chakra heads for your clone, the ground is broken down into smaller molecules, and with the aid of moisture in the ground, becomes mud. When the mud reaches you it knocks your clone off balance which I use to my advantage. I then force the chakra to flow back to me. It is a little more easier now since the ground is less dense. As the mud river flows towards me, bringing you with it, I perform the hand seals, Ram → Horse → Dragon, and using the mud I force the molecules to take the form of a Dragon's head. It opens its mouth and begins to shoot mud bullets at your clone.

I begin to focus my chakra. Building it up to the point desired. I focus my chakra into the ground, having it mix with the earth below. I send it towards your clone and remember (Doton: Ganchūsō) - Earth Release: Stone Spikes. I remember the same technique but this time I imagine it surrounding my target instead of skewering him. I imagine a prison-like formation. I perform the handseals Rat → Horse → Dog → Snake. I concentrate on the ground and make pillars appear around the clone but at the same time I focus on making the pillars closer together and more compact so they can withstand and keep the target confined as long as possible.

I concentrate the chakra inside me and direct it to my hand. I slam my hand on the ground, sending forth a shock wave. I manipulate the flow of the shock wave to burst upward. My chakra combines with the earth and forms a square-like, defensive wall by making the molecules in the earth compact together at an alarming rate. My wave of my chakra can only go so far so the wall reaches several feet until it stops.
