That doesn't quite make sense to me .... Did Kishimoto just throw him and Mitsuki out of plot just to give Sarada the bento?

Er I feel as if

I. Mitsuki/Boruto or Boruto/Sarada would have stood a better chance against the Onion Uchiha
II. A threat is coming to Konohagakure (Like Sharingan monsters), so Boruto and everyone else who should of joined Sarada/ChouChou are left at home.

Cause honestly it feels rather stupid that Kishimoto would not pair up Naruto/Sasuke and Boruto/Sarada, the epic-ness of Father/Son and Father/Daughter tag-team would have been great. But Chou Chou stole his spot

Boruto seems prideful. I think he felt that since he didn't wait for it, he didn't return his moms feelings and because of that, doesn't deserve the lunch. (even though that isn't the case)

Exactly, Naruto was still not Hokage in The Last, he got so busy after.

I think the theme in this Gaiden is developing/showing family bonds, and how they are not like what they seem in the beginning.

Boruto is just like any Normal kid. He missed his normal Naruto dad, before he accepted the Hokage position.

I can tell that unlike Naruto, he's going to hate the Hokage title .
The Hokage position consumes too MUch of Naruto's time.
But we can see his consideration towards sarada.
