HRD minister of India Smriti Irani was offended when Education minister of Bihar[a state in india] addressed her "dear" [ ][ ]

Her post translates "Ashok Choudhary when did you start addressing women as "dear" like she was offended by it."
Also pay attention to the word "ji" that that conveys respect when most of us hindi speaking Indians talk with others.

Though fun part someone dug out she had herself addressed others "dear" before

didn't have problem with her own minister addressing her "dear" in a letter

she won't say a word about PM of India[who is from her own party] addressing women with "dear"

Actually tbh. it’s an art how to completely ignore the issue at hand and come up with non-problems seeing her earlier twitter fueds over nothing

There is slight difference in both uses but I suppose it's too subtle for you to notice.

If Chouhari wanted to ask her about an official matter and he could have either called or written an official letter. His tweet was both condescending and sarcastic which is lost on many. He knows the language and how he was using it.

Besides general attitude of many of the people from Bihar towards women is annoying enough.

Patna: Bihar’s minister for arts, culture and youth affairs, Binay Bihari, on Monday sparked a minor furore in the Assembly with his statement linking the rise in the number of incidents of rapes with the presence of smartphones with girls.

“Smartphones in the hands of young people, especially girls, has caused more problems than it has solved. Smartphones have led to a rise in the incidents of rape,” said Bihari.

Not to mention the way they have made a record on how low the status o education can fall. Recent toppers from Bihar would have made better news heading.

While the word itself is not offensive in the least, you can use this word in both an endearing and condescending manner.

The problem with this is that in every case, the word 'dear' is typed in the exact same syntax. They all used 'dear' to address salutations, not as a proverbial pat on the head.

Also pay attention to the word "ji" that that conveys respect when most of us hindi speaking Indians talk with others.

This is called deviating the Topic

No wonder our Trollil HRD minister deviates from Topic must have passed class 12th by the same means as bold

As I said there is a difference in both uses- Smriti's own other message or MOdi's message is simply using the old system of address - " dear XYZ".
hypocrisy much
As i said nothing wrong with addressing her as Aunty National then.
But then her woman card will come into play

The way the minister from Bihar used it was being Sarcastic. She is a Cabinet minister at center. He is a minister from state making a comment like that. Rest of his message is in Hindi. And 'dear' is inserted in that sentence just for spite.
Then why did she not answer the Question.Oh wait she nvr does

It's not a big point but it's funny tht you find an issue enough for NB. While you ignored more severe issues the Bihar education minister has to handle in his own state before lecturing Smriti. Their Political science topped in board exams thinks it's about cooking.
Irani should go back and look at her own degree first since she of same tier as those Toppers.
But she has degree from Yale [ ] :lmao:

Nope. That news report was actually wrong if you really know Hindi properly and listened to the video of the minister. Not that matters.

But here was are talking about comments from an Education minister who used the word "dear" while writing rest of the message in Hindi.

I don't know. But I would expect that our ministers get a hold of themselves and focus on the problems they need to solve themselves instead of going posting sarcastic internet messages to minister of centers. Bihar minisster lecturing a central minister to focus on Education policy adding that she is wasting time in politics is a good example of diversion tactics himself. The Bihari cheating in education problem is out of control and making news headlines and he find time to make such a tweet at such a time.

You are following the typical misogynistic way how working married women often get addressed and as always come up with a lame justification. Whatever. I didn't even addressed this part so I don't know why you are trying it.
Then why did she not answer the Question.Oh wait she nvr does
I dont speak for her but here is a tip- what makes you think it was a question that needed an answer? If you want a proper discussion or reply you don't send sarcastic comments on twitter. Twitter is not for discussion forum for ministers wanting to address education policy.
Irani should go back and look at her own degree first since she of same tier as those Toppers.
And that would fix cheating problem of BIhar?

But she has degree from Yale [ ] :lmao:
Why are you surprised. How do you think Yale got it's name?

So saying that Bihar education minister needs to check Bihar education system instead of getting in internet saracasm war, in thread where his statement about education policy is under discussion, is off topic?

Send both the minister back to school. I don't care. But Bihar needs to get serious before they drag us all down with them.

This not about Bihar's cheating menace
People take offense to the most stupidest of things nowadays. :lol

I love Indian politics, the drama never ceases to amaze me.
She is an actoress from a TV Drama [ ].This was expected tbh
She is indulging in twitter wars and creating controversy when most of the other ministers the current goverment are working hard

Dear jean grey, I don't think you noticed the guy is addressing her with utmost respect.
Can you read Hindi and know what the whole sentence says? And do you know the status of education in Bihar and familiar with recent fiasco of board toppers?

He asked a sarcastic question, she replied back the same way. What she said could be seen as a mild jok/ leg pulling as well. I would have asked what he was going to do to fix Bihar. It's the state which had one of the world's first ( and probably oldest) Universities established here. An international education center for centuries. And today it has become a joke.

She's right, it's offensive to call her dear because she doesn't deserve it. The minister should've called her a kuti instead.
Would have shown his mentality more clearer.

The problem with this is that in every case, the word 'dear' is typed in the exact same syntax. They all used 'dear' to address salutations, not as a proverbial pat on the head.

Use 1 and Use 2:

1)Dear Frank you are missing the point. He went on to ask her to find some time for education policy between her politics and speeches. So it was the context that made her react.

2) Dear FrankeensteinAG jii it would be good if instead of jumping in you understand that the address is part of the rest of the sentece that was saracastic.

See the difference in both explanation? ( first one is sincere the second one is not.) The same difference is in how the other minister said it. Not to mention she is a cabinet minister at center and according to protocol she is above him. When writing in Hindi, you do not add 'Dear' while addressing to someone that comes before you according to protocol. And they don't seem particularly close either to take such liberties.

On her part Smriti could ignore it or not. Bihar on the other hand is going though serious problems with education system so it's ironic that their minister chooses to go sarcastic at the center at such a time right when it's being discussed.

That's sad. They should have taken her out of office in 2015 but the court said they didn't receive any substantial evidence to prosecute her.
India is one big corrupt nation and the list keeps going. This woman, then you had Jayalalithaa but she did it for her personal reasons, etc..
She's right, it's offensive to call her dear because she doesn't deserve it. The minister should've called her a kuti instead.
:lmao: It would apply for Sonia Ghandi as well.
