You can’t compare hinata to sakura. Or sakura to hinata. The basis of this being that sakura is a mian character and hinata is a side character. (in terms of plot relevance of course)
-
I know there is a lot of rivalry that stems from this, it either originates at pairings or at the character’s value to the story.
-
The point remains that sakura is a mian character, even though most of the fanbase disagrees,(though it is kind of sad though that sakura is cast aside as a side character,
-
it just shows how Kishi forgets about her, she is supposed to be one of the 4 pillars that build up the plot and she has very little plot relavence)
-
But Hinata can not and will never be a main character. She is a supporting character, and if she was a mian character,
-
even if she has the background for it she just can’t be because she lacks plot relavence, yes she has a lot of character development,
-
so much that it is staggering but that means very little. Nagato changed just as much but he certainly isn’t a mian character.
-
You can compare Hinata and Sakura in the following ways, character development/pairing/looks/Rule 34/intelligence/who would win in an fight/
-
who would make a better leader and stuff like that. But when it comes to signifance to story, you can’t compare hinata and Sakura because Sakura is a main character
-
and you can’t compare a mian with a side. Its like comparing Naruto and Kiba, who is more significant to the story? Its obviously naruto.
-
Mind you it really is sad that most of the base/internet in America considers her a side or less. It just tells you how Kishi messed up her character,
-
which a lot of sakura fans point out while trying to defend her.
-
Mind you I will always believe that nami/robin/erza scarlett/ leave sakura and hinata in the dust.

Dude, like you said Sakura was cast aside and forgotten by Kishi, and Hinata got more development than her, she can be called main char and maybe that's what she was supposed to be, but thanks to Kishi's mistakes (if they are mistakes) she no longer deserves to be called that. You might say if they kill Sakura Naruto or Sasuke would rage or something like that but Naruto did it when he thought Pain killed Hinata, in the end Naruto would rage if anyone is killed. So in my eyes, she's not a main character, anymore atleast.

Sorry Sakura fans, but that's my opinion.

Of course; and i do not get the arguement of "Hinata have done much more despite being a side character"; its because a Side character is suppose to do something more or less relevant to the plot, development, storyline and concepts of the manga; that's why when Hinata shows up, she does such things; that does not make her a main character.

We have seen Naruto derping around and eating ramen, they are not even relevant yet he is the main character.

And even Naruto ends up with Hinata; a heroine does not mean someone who ends up eith the main character; look at Harry Potter -spoiler- Harry ended up with Ginny, but Hermione is the main heroine, a great one actualy-spoilers-.

I think ppl on Naruto base dont understand the roles of characters in Naruto. Sakura is a healer and yet ppl expect her to have more screen time fighting and developing even though her role lies in support. Anyways I agree with u to a certain point I guess :erm:

main character, side character, none of this matters. Kishi stated in an early interview Hinata is more like a heroine than Sakura. but let's cast this aside. the best is to like the character you like and stop this stupid comparing war.

I totally agree Sakura is the main character and has been shown more than Hinata and she is a supporting character nothing else. What I don't like is what Kishi did to Sakura make her hair shorter and make her figure lean just b/c she has gotten cuter. My opinion is just b/c she has gotten cuter throughout the series doesn't mean that he can do that to her and get her haters talk about it and compare it to Hinata's. Point is you are right Sakura is a main character and Hinata is a supporting character nothing else always has been, always will be.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....

I'm sorry, but I just imagined Robin or Erza planning to fight these two....and it just isn't fair.....especially Robin because she'd simply troll.

OT: I think people are allowed to compare them, but I would say people should be able to realize that Sakura is a main character...gets annoying when they don't.

Lol shouldn't it be common sense though?!

Logically speaking, the author cannot say one character would make a better heroine, because the author is WRITING WHO IS the heroine. Saying a character would be a better heroine is something a third party that is viewing the stoey would make.
This makes far more sense. Because Kishi actually developed a complex background for Hinata, it would be far easier to make a heroine character using said background. Simply because he has more things to work with in creating character development and future plot points.

For example, say Hinata was the heroine. A plot point could be developed from something like Hyuga tradition making her unable to marry Naruto. Or there could be other side branch members that could have held grudges. Heck, Kishi could have played with main branch politics of people wanting to oust her as the hieress (assuming Hiashi didn't view her as a failure).

See, from just her clan background I was more easily able to create plot points to work on, and it is far easier than Sakura's normal life.

So yeah.....a character being a better heroine is basically impossible for an signer to assume because it is up to him/her to write said heroine.
