OP speaks the truth. A sad day for US indeed. The voters confirmed what the rest of the world already thinks about us - that we're arrogant, selfish, fearful, hateful, and stupid.
My biggest fear is what will happen to the balance in the Supreme Court. Get ready to turn back the calendar to 1950 or worse. Who knows? Maybe in 10 years the only ones who will be allowed to vote will be white males? It's what y'all wanted isn't it???

That's not true. The electoral votes result in the decision of the delegates who were chosen by the people whose vote are considered the popular vote.
What do you mean that's not true? The popular vote is the total amount of people in the U.S. that voted for each candidate.

Each state has it's own amount of delegates, so when it comes to the electoral vote, it really depends on which states are won because some states have way more delegates than others.

Hillary won the popular vote. She had about 600,000 more people in the U.S. vote for her than Trump.

Actually the the majority of Americans didn't want him. Hilary won the popular vote by about 400,000

That basically means that 400,000 american votes didn't matter. Just like in 2000 when we elected dumbass Bush over Al Gore because of the Electoral College.

Guess who had the popular vote? Not Trump.

Trump won the electoral vote. Which is how Bush won against Al Gore. It's very undemocratic.
you 2 don't seem to understand that Hillary had more because she won bigger states. The Electoral College system is in essence the most fair process that is available because it gives the ppl in all states to be involved. If the election was won by the candidate who simply had more popular votes, then the only places whose say would matter are states with the largest metropolitan areas.

the judges in the Supreme Court can overturn executive orders or laws they deem to be unconstitutional or unlawful, so there is no reason to for any reasonable person to believe that America will be getting Palpatine'd by anybody.

Electing the candidate with the most votes of U.S. citizens is called Democracy. It's the will of the people.

When you elect a candidate which the majority of this country did not support is not Democracy.

The electoral college is an archaic system whose original function no longer applies to today's standards. It was originally instituted as a means to prevent election fraud in a time when communication and technology for counting votes were limited.

America was never a democracy it's always been a constitutional republic.

again, you don't seem to understand what you're talking about it. If you understood how the Electoral College works, then you'd know the average person's votes still matters the most in the grand scheme of things.

you say it's archaic, but i've never heard anything from you or EC bashers that resembled anything that looks like a better plan. No EC = smaller states' votes don't matter. That sounds like a functioning democratic system to you where the largest states with the largest cities have all the say?

I don't have to come up with a plan in order to know that the current system doesn't work adequately.

Ok, well obviously 600k+ votes didn't matter in this election.

What you're saying is that the majority shouldn't be the ones to decide the direction of the country. The majority of people wanted environmental protection and equality of race, ***, and religion.

But instead we got the opposite of that. The person elected thinks Global Warming is a hoax, wants to ban all Muslims, and wants to punish women for abortion.

If you think that's a success, then I don't know what to tell you?

If more people disagree with illogical and regressive ideals, then why should they be enacted when they don't represent most of the people living in this country?

yeah, "i have no plan, but i know the one that's managed to benefit all voters since the country's political system was founded doesn't" is definitely sound reasoning :sdo:

no matter how many times i explain things, you still don't seem to get it. It's like you are consciously trying to protect yourself with a narrative than let look at facts.

that's just it: you haven't told me anything other than things i haven't already heard from the same biased media that tried its best to stack the decks against Trump. You're simply one of many who has been parroting it.

It's not like you gave me anything that solidifies your own argument.

I'm trying to process this. Are you telling me that I can't criticize a system without already having a preconceived plan to replace it? So how does one even come up with a plan without first pointing out the flaws? Do you not see the contradiction here?

Benefit all voters? Ha, yeah I guess we all benefited from Bush right? Yeah the electoral college didn't **** the country over with that one, I'm sure. I'm sure we're going to benefit from Trump too.

What did you explain to me? No seriously. All you said is that the electoral college gives representation to people living in hicktown, so if they want to vote in a racist, they can. Yeah, sound logic.

I can give you plenty of more reasons. But if equality isn't reason enough, then you're just not a good person. That's really the bottom line. I don't really know how else to put it.

If you believe in fairtytales about the wall and making America great again after an entire year of having enormous amounts of public information about his policies, his record, and just the general status of our nation, then you're a lost cause. I mean if facts don't do it, then nothing will and you'll continue making excuses.

Exactly my thoughts.

So because he's president means he isn't garbage and idiotic?

Logic 101

That's not the point. I know how our economy works but Trump's plans are outright stupid. His advisors and the VP will be doing all the work while he reaps the benefits of presidency .
Heavens no. Americans voted for this garbage. By no means do I sympathize for Trump or his agendas.

My deficit point wasn't referring to you. Ideally you want to lower the deficit, and those who raise the deficit less is good, but the deficit will raise until we stabilize.
