For memes - Cats. For some reason, they make really good memes.

For pets - Dogs. They're much more affectionate and actually seem to love their owner, assuming their owner isn't an animal beater.

I'm honestly more of a cat person. They don't jump on you every time they see you and they keep themselves relatively clean. I don't mind that they kinda isolate themselves from everyone else, I guess it's 'cause I'm sort of that way. Dogs are still chill though.

each animal is different, and i mean that on an individual level. had one cat that was really chill and affectionate, another that couldnt give 2 sh*ts about you, and another that was really skiddish unless it was around certain people. experienced similar things with dogs.

Cats. They don't need alot of attention, they don't stick their noses by your ass to smell it, they don't jump on you when you come home and get all up in your business, and they're more fun to watch.
Of course my cat is spoiled rotten so he needs his attention, but other than that we have a good understanding of one another. Not that I don't like dogs mind you, I mean obedient ones are cool.
