Remember the Shichibukai are named after animals: Doffy is a Flamingo (a bird). I wager it is some tech that traps enemies in string.

I think you can be right maybe Pica can build like a dome/cage around the entire island locking it down from the outside world.

I think Bird Cage works like Room. Think about it, Room is the only other move that allows limb separation like that. It would also deepen the theory that Law and Doffy have some past connection that's yet to be revealed. Maybe Doffy taught Law Room by teaching him a variant of Bird Cage?

I prefer another one I heard, which is a combo of both Doffys strings and Picas ability inside a confined place.

Remember Doffy said he was using it so wouldn't make much sense for it solely to be Pica.
