I'm on episode 6 right now and I have to say it's been on a steep downward slope ever since the first episode
Episode 1 is the best first episode I've ever seen. So intense, so disturbing, so epic I've never been so pumped off of the introductory episode it was unbelievable. The moment when his internal conflict comes to a peak and that song comes in was so good! Next level atmospheric drama that's so rare for any movie or high budget live action show to even get across and execute. I'm sure anyone who's seen it would agree. But it's lost all of that the for me and most of it seems so mundane compared to that episode.
So to everyone who is on season 2 does that feeling ever come back that episode 1 was able to create?

Nope, watch Parasyte. It's better than TG IMO. I heard the anime of TG isn't a great adaptation so you might want to check out the manga before you drop it completely. I watched the first 5-10 episodes of TG and it wasn't that great tbh.

You should read the manga honestly. The anime did a piss poor job at adapting the source material and in result is rushed as hell.

The last episode was better. The in between is still decent enough to watch. A lot of people say the manga is better but I've never read it.

Hm interesting I might just stick it out and finish it if the series finale is even better than the first episode I want to have hope in them to be able to achieve greatness again. Although if I really get bored with the in between I'll just skip to the last episode just to see masterpiece. I'm not too invested in the story to read the manga yet either.

Well, the last episode doesn't have closure, since there is a second season called Tokyo Ghoul Root A and that wasn't that good.

oh okay. sigh. it's sad when anime's are so rushed that it's obvious and it's also sad that a studio only has 2 or 3 good episodes in them it's as if the story is getting in the way of the concept

I have watched the anime and I have also read the manga. I'm not a manga purist that will tell you that whatever is not manga is shit. Personally, I did enjoy the anime but as someone who does not get satisfied easily I couldn't help but notice its flaws. Nonetheless I would watch again and again. Later, it becomes more interesting, the second part of the story is an alternative thus, not following the manga, it just has some big moments presented in a different way. Manga is ofc on a complete different level, became my favourite very fast. Still though, I don't find a reason not to enjoy the anime as well.
