No it was just never stated if he actually USED Edo tensei before he died, but he seems to have quite a bit.

Considering Tobirama made the technique, isn't it obvious he used it plenty of times in the past wars before?

Yeah this makes Tobirama's Edo Tensei considerably less inferior than we thought. Even though Orochimaru and Kabuto were said to have 'refined' the jutsu, they both need to resurrect powerful ninjas to use it effectively, whereas it looks like Tobirama could do a lot of damage with fodder Edos.
